Staying at St. Regis Chengdu in China

I stayed at St. Regis Chengdu during my recent trip to China with a couple of friends, and the hotel staff went above and beyond. The moment we stepped foot at the hotel, we were immediately greeted by the bellhops and one of them guided us to the front desk to check in. The front desk staff then invited us to sit down while helping us out with checking into the hotel, which felt welcoming and home-y.

After the check-in process, we were greeted by one of the butlers, who then accompanied us to our room along with a bell person, helping us carry our luggage to our room. The butler also explained some things about the room and the hotel. Our room was upgraded to a Manhattan Suite with one king bedroom and an extra bed in the living room. Upon entering the room, a butler was waiting for us with a tray of snacks and drinks that are a specialty in the Sichuan province.

One of my favourite things about the hotel is their 24/7 butler service, where you can message them with your requests on WeChat (Chinese WhatsApp). Their facilities include a gym which is open 24/7 and the swimming pool, which is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday. If you wanna relax even more, there is a spa on site located on the 5th floor that offers signature city views and is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

I had the opportunity to view the Presidential Suite during our stay, which was located on the top floor and is the only room on the top floor. The suite is 325 sq. meter wide in total with a ceiling height of 3.7 meters and has two bedrooms, a dining area for up to 8 people, a kitchen, a walk-in closet, and a private working area. What I love about it is it has a private sauna, an outdoor swimming pool, and a terrace overlooking the city of Chengdu, which is perfect for late spring to summer. There is even a piano in the living room. There is also a separate entrance for housekeepers, as well as tinted glass from the outside to enjoy your privacy.

St. Regis Chengdu also has an e-sports room for gamers, which has a two-player e-sports zone, ergonomic gaming chair, RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card, two twin-size beds (1.2m x 2.03m), a marble integrated dining table, and a fridge. There’s also a loft apartment, which has a king-size bed, separate bathroom and toilet, a living room, lift-up television, and an outdoor terrace.

Fun fact: The sales manager I talked to told me that there are international and local celebrities who have stayed at the hotel before. Celebrities like Steph Curry and Jackie Chan, just to name a few.

If you’re interested in seeing the pandas while in Chengdu, St. Regis Chengdu is only half an hour drive to The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, where you can see pandas, panda cubs, and red pandas in their natural habitat. If you’re also interested in shopping while in Chengdu, there are shopping centres and a shopping street just a 10-min walk from the hotel.

The Drawing Room, located on the first floor adjacent to the Great Hall, hosts St. Regis rituals like afternoon tea and champagne sabering. Also on the 27th floor, there is a bar called Vantage XXVII, which offers happy hour entertainment and a DJ on select evenings, and a restaurant called Yun Fu which has four private dining rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows with the iconic views of the city’s skyline.
