Palm Springs Site Visit: Ace Hotel & Swim Club for Team Retreats
Curator’s statement

I visited Ace Hotel & Swim Club, Palm Springs specifically to experience it through the lens of a team retreat—to see how it supports connection, creativity, and shared momentum. What I found was a place where conversation flows easily and formality quietly falls away. Set in the desert and grounded in music, design, and community, Ace feels less like a resort and more like a gathering space for ideas. It’s the kind of setting where teams don’t just meet—they actually connect.

Where to stay

Ace Hotel & Swim Club, Palm Springs is an unconventional, design-forward social resort where vibe matters more than polish. From the moment you arrive, the energy feels open and unforced. During my site visit, it became clear that this is a hotel built for people who value creativity, dialogue, and shared experience—making it a natural fit for biotech and life science teams looking to reset, reconnect, and think differently together.

Environment

The desert does a lot of the work here. Wide skies, warm light, and a slower pace create space to step out of day-to-day intensity. At the same time, the hotel’s communal layout encourages a natural flow of movement and conversation throughout the day. There’s a clear balance between calm and momentum—quiet corners when you need them, and social energy when you’re ready to plug back in.

The Amigo Room

The Amigo Room is the social pulse of the property. There’s almost always something happening: music drifting through the space, guests gathering casually, conversations unfolding without an agenda. For teams, this matters. It’s where structured sessions naturally soften into real connection—where ideas continue to evolve over a drink or between songs. It doesn’t feel programmed. It feels alive.

Accommodation

Guest rooms lean into a bohemian, thoughtfully imperfect aesthetic. They’re comfortable, unfussy, and full of character. Small details—like guitars in the rooms—invite creativity and play, offering a welcome contrast to screen-heavy workdays. After a full day of meetings or workshops, these rooms feel like a personal exhale rather than a place to simply crash.

Palm Springs

Outside the hotel, Palm Springs offers experiences that deepen the retreat without overcomplicating it. Teams can lean into adrenaline at the BMW Performance Driving School, explore the landscape together while hiking in Indian Canyons, or try something completely unexpected like footgolf at Tahquitz Creek.

These moments away from the meeting room often become the ones people remember—and talk about—long after the retreat ends.

Need to know

Ace Hotel & Swim Club, Palm Springs is ideal for small- to mid-sized teams that value authenticity, creativity, and social connection over traditional luxury. It’s especially well-suited for groups that want structure without stiffness and collaboration without pressure.

Photos don’t fully capture the energy here—this is a hotel you really need to experience in person.

Plan focused sessions earlier in the day, then let the afternoons and evenings unfold more organically. That’s when Ace truly shines.
