Hotel Spotlight: 5 Reasons to Love Andaz Condesa Mexico City

Location, location, location!

Andaz Condesa sits right in the heart of La Condesa, one of CDMX’s most vibrant neighborhoods. I loved wandering the tree-lined streets with their colorful buildings, catching evening cumbia and bachata classes in the parks, and hearing dogs and kids at play. Great restaurants like Plonk and Lardo are just a short stroll away. From the hotel, it’s an easy, safe walk to Roma, Reforma, and Chapultepec Park, but you still feel more rooted in a local neighborhood than at many city hotels.

Tip: Nervous about street food? Follow the locals—where they queue is usually a good sign. (Lunch tends to be a bit later than in the U.S., so try 2–3 p.m. if not a little later!)

Step outside Andaz and into one of the world's most picturesque neighborhoods. Imagine: colorful buildings, jungle-like plants, and something new to find around every corner!

Design

The hotel is a converted 1960s government office and the design is one of my favorite surprises. Subtle nods to Luis Barragán with soft pinks, preserved Art Deco elements and original stone flooring, and lush local plants give the place a real sense of place. The details invite you to slow down and discover layers of the city’s history without leaving the building—ask staff about the design; I found little stories behind many of the touches.

Despite the hotel being a few years old, the lack of wear and tear and the sustained comfort of the rooms speak further to the quality of the chosen design elements.

Service

Service felt warm and genuine from arrival—welcome drink (yes, mezcal is an option), a handwritten note, proactive staff, and attentive housekeeping. The team is both polished and real: They’ll laugh with you, help practice Spanish, and fix anything that goes wrong. That friendly competence made the stay feel like being hosted by someone who cares.

Cabuya Rooftop

The 17th-floor rooftop is a highlight—sweeping city and mountain views, lots of greenery, a pool, and a menu worth lingering over (the tuna tostada was a favorite). It has energy but never feels overcrowded, so it’s perfect for a sunny afternoon, a sunset cocktail, or a late-night carajillo.

I loved being able to enjoy the fresh air, music, and tasty eats and drinks on Cabuya Rooftop throughout my stay (great use of my hotel credit!)

Small touches

Little extras matter here—complimentary minibar snacks and sodas, Byredo bath products, and other thoughtful details. I appreciate when a hotel gets the small things right; it spoke to the care behind the entire stay.

I was able to keep on top of my workout routine with the large fitness center, shared with neighboring Mondrian Condesa

Ask a local and try everything! Mexico City is wonderful at surface level, but diving deeper unlocks infinitely more.
