Tee Times and Treatment Tables: A Selection of Scottsdale Desert Golf & Spa Resorts
Curator’s statement

What I love most about golf and a spa day is the same thing I love about travel: it slows you down, puts you somewhere beautiful, and lets you be fully present. The desert is one of my favorite places for golf and spa because it offers the combination of stillness, scenery, and indulgence. From sunrise tee times framed by mountain views to restorative treatments inspired by the Sonoran landscape, a golf and spa day satisfies travelers who want both activity and ease. Here are my top Scottsdale recommendations.

Pinnacle course Troon North Golf Club

Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

  • The golf: Troon North Golf Club is often ranked among the best courses in the country, and the Four Seasons offers guests special perks, such as free shuttles to and from the resort. The two 18-hole courses, Pinnacle and Monument, were designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, with Weiskopf later working with Phil Smith on the Pinnacle Course. Both courses wind through the high Sonoran Desert with Pinnacle Peak in the background. They are beautiful and challenging, with elevation changes, desert terrain, and striking views that make every round memorable. For serious golfers, this is a must-visit.

  • The spa: The spa at Troon North offers desert-inspired treatments like the Turquoise Sage Renewal body scrub, the Nopal Massage with prickly pear cactus gel, and the Exosome Facial, which uses the latest skincare science.

The spa at Troon North

  • Why I love it: The adobe casitas sit on 40 acres of natural desert, with kiva fireplaces, deep soaking tubs, and private patios overlooking the Sonoran landscape. The setting feels peaceful and far from everyday life. For dinner, try Paella or Wagyu with chimichurri and a signature gin and tonic at Talavera, then enjoy stargazing from your patio. The service from Troon Golf and Four Seasons is top-notch. This is a place you’ll remember.

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

  • The golf: TPC Scottsdale is so popular that golfers line up for a chance to play it outside of tournament week. It’s home to the WM Phoenix Open, one of the most exciting stops on the PGA Tour. Playing the Stadium Course when it’s quiet, with golden desert light, is a bucket-list experience for any golfer. The course is challenging, and the views of saguaros and mountains capture the best of Arizona golf.

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess spa

  • The spa: The Princess is the only resort in Arizona with the exclusive Sisley Paris Spa, one of just a few in North America, plus the full Well & Being Spa. Sisley’s approach blends science and luxury, with signature facials that use plant-based formulas developed over decades in Paris and deliver real results. If you love skincare, this is the place for you.

  • Why I love it: The resort is large but still feels welcoming. For dinner, try the signature Maine Lobster Pot Pie at Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina. There are six pools, and the staff takes care of everything before you even ask. It’s perfect for groups with different interests - everyone will find something to enjoy.

The Phoenician golf

The Phoenician

  • The golf: This 18-hole course, designed by Phil Smith, sits at the base of Camelback Mountain, with the resort’s Spanish colonial architecture in the background. It’s one of the most visually striking golf settings in the Valley. The course works for all skill levels, so it’s a great choice for groups with mixed abilities. Everyone can enjoy the scenery and feel comfortable playing here.

  • The spa: The Phoenician Spa has earned a 2026 Forbes Four-Star Award and is one of Arizona's top resort spas. The signature Elements of Wellness treatments offer a sensory experience that blends aromatherapy, heat, and expert massage, feeling more like a ritual than just another treatment. The spa is spacious, beautifully designed, and focused on real results.

The Phoenician spa

  • Why I love it: The Phoenician delivers top-quality experiences without ever feeling too big. If you want to be near the best of Scottsdale - shopping, dining, and Old Town - while enjoying a world-class resort, this is the place. The golf course and Forbes Four-Star spa are right on site, and Camelback Mountain offers some of the best hiking in the area.

The Boulders golf

The Boulders Resort & Spa

  • The golf: The Boulders is set in a landscape that feels ancient, with granite formations over 12 million years old rising from the desert floor and surrounding the casitas and fairways. Jay Morrish designed both the South and North Courses, and the South Course winds through the boulders so that every hole feels unique, with views of Rosie’s Rock and Boulder Pile. Here, you’re playing golf in one of the most dramatic natural settings in the Southwest.

  • The spa: The 33,000-square-foot spa embraces its desert setting, offering private meditation in the on-site labyrinth and tipi, Reiki healing, chakra balancing, and treatments inspired by the local landscape. On a clear morning, the views from the spa deck are breathtaking.

The Boulders pool

  • Why I love it: The relaxed atmosphere and private adobe-style casitas make The Boulders special. It doesn’t try to copy Scottsdale - it has its own unique identity. It’s quieter, more grounded, and visually stunning.

The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa

  • The golf: The Westin Kierland Golf Club is ranked among the Top 10 Public Courses in Phoenix/Scottsdale by Golf Advisor and one of America’s Most Cheerful Golf Courses by Golf Digest. Designed by local architect Scott Miller and managed by Troon, the course sits in North Scottsdale with the McDowell Mountains in the distance. It’s fun for golfers of all skill levels and one of the most accessible courses here, making it great for mixed groups.

  • The spa: Agave, The Arizona Spa & Salon, bases its treatments on the traditions of Arizona’s native cultures, blending indigenous healing practices with wellness techniques from around the world. The menu goes beyond typical resort spa offerings. The name honors the agave plant, a Sonoran Desert icon, and that sense of place is felt throughout the experience.

  • Why I love it: Kierland’s location is perfect if you want resort luxury and the full Scottsdale experience in one trip. It’s just steps from great shopping and dining at Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter, and both the golf course and spa are right on the property. For a long weekend of golf, spa, dining, and shopping, this spot can’t be beat.

Need to know

Best time to go: October through April is peak season for good reason; mild temperatures, low humidity, and courses in top shape. Summer offers lower rates and dramatic monsoon skies, but the heat is intense.
