Vail: A Mountain Escape for All Seasons – My Fora Experience
Curator’s statement

At the beginning of April, I had the chance to visit Vail, Colorado with Fora — not just to take in the stunning mountain views (though those didn’t hurt), but to do some serious networking and, most importantly, become a true Vail expert. I spent a few jam-packed days touring top hotels, exploring the villages and getting the inside scoop — so I can bring all that insider knowledge straight to you.

Where to stay

If you're a beginner skier like me, let me just say — the bunny slopes? Absolutely thrilling. I mean, is it really skiing if you're not slightly out of control and giggling the whole way down? Stick with me, and you’ll learn everything you need to plan the perfect Vail adventure — whether you're here to carve powder, sip cocktails or just rock a really great winter outfit.

Let’s talk villages

Vail isn’t just one cute little ski town — it’s actually made up of three main villages: Vail Village, Lionshead and Golden Peak, each with its own vibe.

  • Vail Village is the main hub, where cobblestone streets meet designer boutiques, award-winning restaurants and that perfect mix of cozy and glam.

  • Lionshead Village is a little quieter and a bit more family-friendly, with great ski access and a laid-back feel.

  • Golden Peak is ideal for those who want to be near ski schools or want quick access to the mountain without the buzz of the main village.

Whichever village you stay in, you’ll be surrounded by charm, mountain views and just the right amount of après-ready energy.

Vail: Not just for snow bunnies

Yes, Vail is world-famous for winter — but it’s also a year-round dream. In summer, you’ve got wildflower-studded hikes, mountain biking, fly fishing and even outdoor concerts. In fall, the colors are next-level gorgeous (bring a sweater and your best flannel). And spring? Well, it’s when you can ski and sunbathe on a patio, mimosa in hand.

And no matter the season, Vail brings the luxury accommodations, delicious food and mountain magic.

Winter in Vail: A snow globe you can ski through

Let’s be honest — Vail in winter is the moment. With over 5,300 acres of skiable terrain, there’s something for everyone — from black-diamond daredevils to those of us perfecting the fine art of the snowplow (it’s a technique, okay?).

Vail’s ski schools are top-notch, so even if your skiing style is more “graceful chaos,” you’re in good hands. And when you’re done tearing it up (or just surviving your lesson), the après scene is calling your name — big time.

This is the kind of place where you can hit the slopes in the morning and hit the champagne in the afternoon. Whether you’re here to ski or just look great in ski clothes, Vail gets it.

Hotel Highlights: My top 4 picks

After touring nearly a dozen properties, these four stood out for their vibes, service and stay-worthiness:

  • The Sebastian – Vail
Stylish, cozy and smack in the middle of Vail Village. The Sebastian is the boutique luxury dream — think craft cocktails, plush robes and the kind of service that makes you feel like a VIP even if your ski boots are still on.

  • Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail
It’s the Four Seasons — need I say more? Ultra-luxury, swoon-worthy rooms, a killer spa and a heated outdoor pool where you can soak while snowflakes fall around you. Ideal for couples, families or anyone who enjoys being seriously pampered.

  • The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort
Located in Lionshead, this property is modern, elegant and a little bit edgy in the best way. Great spa, cool dining experiences and the kind of design that makes you want to redecorate your house when you get home.

  • Grand Hyatt Vail
This one’s a bit off the main drag but gives you ski-in/ski-out access and a riverside setting that feels like a private retreat. It’s peaceful, luxe and the fire pits on the après terrace are chef’s kiss.

Now let’s talk après

You didn’t think I’d forget the best part of ski life, did you?

Here are a few faves:

  • Vendetta’s – Pizza, drinks and that lively, no-frills fun you want after a day on the slopes.

  • The Remedy Bar (at the Four Seasons) – Gorgeous cocktails, mountain views and a fireplace you’ll want to move into.

  • Garfinkel’s – Classic Vail après with a huge deck and strong pours.

  • Chasing Rabbits – The new cool kid in Vail Village. Part speakeasy, part immersive art experience, 100% unforgettable.

Need to know

Let’s plan your Vail adventure! Now that I’ve explored, skied (a little), après’d (a lot) and toured just about every top hotel in town, I’m officially your Vail Expert. Let me help you plan a custom ski (or non-ski!) vacation that matches your style — whether that’s a romantic getaway, a family trip or a girls’ weekend with more spa than snow. One important tip: Vail is a book-early destination. The best rooms and suites go fast, so let’s lock in your perfect spot while options are still wide open.
