Curator’s statement
Fall in Whistler offers a uniquely relaxed atmosphere before winter's rush. A mid-week or long weekend stay at the Four Seasons Resort Whistler, perhaps coinciding with Cornucopia, guarantees genuine restoration. My partner, our dog, and I enjoyed an unhurried, indulgent long weekend during the shoulder season. Fewer crowds, easy dining, and a calm resort pace make it an ideal, easy-to-reach getaway for Pacific Northwest residents.

The fall resort experience
This was our first stay at the property, and it delivered an exceptional balance of wellness and adventure.
From arrival, the pace felt noticeably calmer than peak winter months. Service was polished yet warm, and the concierge team stood out immediately. They offered thoughtful recommendations, including activities in Squamish where we live that we had never explored, and helped coordinate dining reservations seamlessly.

The living space in the Deluxe Executive Suite
Seasonal programming added dimension without feeling forced
Fresh maple taffy being made in the lobby
A lively yet relaxed daily wine reception
Hot chocolate in the evenings
Interactive activities such as candle-making classes, a “build your own” Sidecut steak rub experience, and even a Sea To Sky Beer Tasting
Guests can also request complimentary tickets at the concierge desk for a guided tour of the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, which I consistently recommend for those wanting deeper cultural context during their stay.
Dining: A standout part of the stay
Dining was one of the strongest highlights of our weekend, and shoulder season made it especially enjoyable.
We had breakfast daily at Braidwood Tavern, and the buffet offered something for everyone. The made-to-order omelettes, fresh juices, pastries, and expansive fruit display were impressive. The berries were exceptionally fresh. As local residents, we genuinely noticed the difference in quality.
For dinners, we enjoyed the seasonal prix fixe menus at both on-property restaurants:
Sidecut Steakhouse
CAD 68 per person
Romantic and refined setting
Thoughtfully curated seasonal menu
Knowledgeable service and global wine selection
Braidwood Tavern
CAD 49 per person
Seafood-forward, coastal-inspired dishes
Relaxed yet elevated atmosphere
Both experiences felt like strong value for the quality and setting.
I also enjoyed in-room dining for lunch one afternoon, which was convenient and well executed for my relaxing afternoon.
Whistler Cornucopia: A perfect fall pairing
The Whistler Cornucopia festival brings a different kind of energy to Whistler. Wine tastings, special menus, and hotel-hosted events make it an ideal anchor for a mid-week escape or long weekend.
My partner and I attended a wine tasting event during our visit, and it added another layer to the experience. We are already planning around Cornucopia for the upcoming fall. It is one of the most enjoyable ways for adults to experience Whistler outside ski season.

We attended the "Taste Like a Somm" tasting. Learning about and tasting each wine was fun!
Pet experience
The pet experience at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler property is genuinely thoughtful. With no additional pet fee, it is clear that the property considers pets to be valued guests, too. Locally sourced treats were waiting on arrival, bowls were set up, and the pet bed by the fireplace quickly became Leia’s preferred resting spot.
Fall makes Whistler especially enjoyable for dogs and cats. Trails are quieter, temperatures are manageable, and the overall pace is calmer. We arranged for a local pet care provider to spend a few hours exploring with Leia while we attended the wine tasting event in the village. This allowed us flexibility in our day while knowing she was exercised and well cared for.
The resort sits slightly removed from the center of the village, preventing it from feeling overwhelmed, yet it remains close enough to feel connected. The walk into the village is lovely, and our dog enjoyed the multiple daily walks and hikes during our stay.

Wellness, fitness & spa
We spent one morning focused entirely on wellness:
A workout in the modern, well-equipped fitness center
Time in the cedar-barrel sauna
Relaxing by the heated outdoor pool and whirlpools
Poolside warm towels that made cooler fall air feel comfortable
The spa was undergoing renovations during our stay, which we knew in advance.
The spa uses Sḵwálwen Botanicals, an Indigenous skincare line rooted in Skwxwú7mesh plant knowledge and ancestral traditions. It is a meaningful partnership that reinforces the sense of place and connection to the community.

Suite experience & room selection
You cannot go wrong with a suite at this property, especially when traveling as a couple and with pets. We stayed in a Deluxe Executive Suite, and it worked exceptionally well for our long weekend:
Separate bedroom and living area
Reduced hallway noise exposure from the bedroom
Comfortable space for lounging and dining in-room
Two full bathrooms
The additional space makes a noticeable difference, particularly with a pet.
The property also offers guest rooms, specialty suites, and private residences. The right option depends on your goals for the stay and number of guests. Some travelers prioritize proximity to amenities, others want privacy or extended-stay comfort.
If you are considering a fall stay, I recommend inquiring directly so we can determine which room, suite, or residence best aligns with your preferences and the overall experience you want to create.
