Site Inspection at Tantra Luxury Beach Club in Tulum, Mexico
Curator’s statement

In January of 2024, I decided to run away from the cold in Dallas, aka Dallaska, and go to Tulum. The weather in Tulum was perfect, 80 degrees Fahrenheit and around the 70’s at night. This time the purpose of my trip was not to relax but to check out the great party vibes Tulum offers. I was not disappointed at all.

Fortunately, Tulum's new airport will soon have more direct flights to and from many more destinations. I had to fly to Cancun, and since I was traveling with 4 more friends, we booked a transport to Tulum for $130. The travel time is about 2 hours. You also have the option to take a bus (ADO) for $30 to Tulum and then take a taxi to your hotel.

The main reason for this trip was to go to the CORE TOMORROWLAND festival at Zamna. It is about 20 minutes from the city center when there is no traffic, so we decided to stay at Mayan Monkey Hostel, located in the city center, but do not panic! This hostel is great. It's more like a 3 to 4 star hotel. We got a huge private room with 2 baths, 2 showers and 2 queen beds. They offer yoga classes, have a business room, restaurant, a bar, and have djs playing until late at night. Fortunately, they leave ear plugs in the room for your use. If you want to party some, this is a good place to stay.

Since we really wanted to experience Tulum vibes or Tuluminati vibes, we spent 2 of our days at beach clubs. Tantra and Taboo are the luxury beach clubs to go to. The food is amazing at both places. You can find different ceviches. My favorite was the black ceviche with calamari black ink. You can also find seafood like grilled calamari, tuna burgers and delicious desserts like tiramisu. For those of you who are vegan, there's also options for you! I recommend going on a Saturday, the place is packed and the people watching is on another level.

Need to Know

I recommend anyone looking to have a luxury and fun time to stay as close as possible to the beach clubs Taboo or Tantra. Staying at Hotelito Azul or Our Habitats Tulum are beautiful choices. This will save you high transportation costs, plus they are situated in a great location. If you stay in the city center and plan to go to any of these beach clubs, the cab will charge around 600 pesos ($35 approx) during the day. It will be around 1200 pesos ($70 approx) in the evening to go back to the city center.
