Vancouver’s Fairmont Hotels: Finding the Perfect Stay for Every Traveler
Curator’s statement

Since moving to the Vancouver area in 2022, I’ve spent countless days exploring the city with my family and pets. What truly sets Vancouver apart for me are its iconic Fairmont properties, each offering more than just a place to stay for both people and their four-legged companions. After personally visiting and inspecting all four Fairmont Vancouver properties in summer 2025, I’ve witnessed firsthand how each hotel creates a unique experience for guests. No matter where you stay, all four properties will enhance your time in Vancouver, especially for those who love to travel with their pets and families.

Vancouver’s four Fairmont hotels are pet-friendly, welcoming both cats and dogs with thoughtful amenities. Though each property is undeniably connected by the Fairmont brand identity and exceptional service, each retains its distinctive character and strengths. This ensures there’s a Fairmont Vancouver property that feels “just right” for every type of traveler and their four-legged companions.

Fairmont Pacific Rim

This property is a standout for anyone who values contemporary design and a buzzing, energized atmosphere. Just steps from the waterfront, this sleek hotel is filled with curated art installations that change regularly and three Michelin-recommended restaurants, making it a magnet for art enthusiasts and foodies alike.

The rooms, especially the Signature King Harbor View, offer breathtaking scenes of the harbor and North Shore mountains—perfect for soaking in the city’s natural beauty. Active travelers and families with pets will appreciate the easy access to the seawall and Coal Harbour Park, making this property an excellent base for outdoor adventures and scenic walks.

Dog-loving guests will love being greeted in the lobby by the hotel’s two canine ambassadors, Elly and Ella, while families and shoppers alike enjoy the hotel’s refined service and luxurious ambiance. It’s an ideal home base for those who want to be surrounded by Vancouver’s rich heritage and seek easy access to everything the city has to offer.

Fairmont Waterfront

Ideally situated across from Canada Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre, Fairmont Waterfront is made for travelers who appreciate comfort, convenience, and a sustainability-focused ethos. The hotel simplifies pre- or post-cruise logistics with a dedicated team to transfer luggage right to the cruise terminal, letting guests avoid the bustle and enjoy their time in Vancouver.

Allergy-sensitive guests can book hypoallergenic, pet-free rooms, while the rest of the property is warmly pet-friendly. Rooms offer quiet comfort after a busy day, and with strong eco-friendly practices throughout, the Waterfront is a smart pick for a seamless city stay.

Fairmont Vancouver Airport

For total relaxation before an early flight or layover, Fairmont Vancouver Airport (YVR) can’t be beat. Located right above US departures with direct SkyTrain access to downtown, this hotel caters to travelers who value comfort, efficiency, and tranquility.

Day-use rooms and a range of spa and fitness amenities make it easy to recharge, while pet-friendly policies and nearby green spaces provide comfort and convenience for those with furry companions.

Whether you’re arriving late, leaving early, or just want a hassle-free start or finish to your journey, this Fairmont Vancouver Airport meets the mark. And don’t forget to stop by the Globe @ YVR for a pre-flight meal—you won’t be disappointed.

It’s truly impossible to crown a single favorite among Vancouver’s Fairmont properties. Each property is uniquely tailored to different travel styles, personalities, and even the specific needs of your four-legged companions. What matters most is matching your travel party’s preferences, dates, pet requirements, sensitivity to noise, and need for green space.

If my own dog could select one to stay at, she’d pick Fairmont Pacific Rim for its direct access to Coal Harbour Park and waterfront walks.

Early morning travelers and aviation enthusiasts, meanwhile, will be most content at Fairmont Vancouver Airport. Not only is the location unmatched before a long flight, it is comfortable and convenient—and the spectacular runway views make it a must-stay for aviation enthusiasts.

For cruisers headed to Alaska or convention guests, Fairmont Waterfront makes logistics effortless with its steps-from-the-door location right across from Canada Place.

Downtown explorers, shoppers, or families (especially those with kids excited to meet the hotel’s resident pups) will feel entirely at home at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, where classic luxury and warm, pet-friendly service await.

Each Fairmont offers its own flavor of Vancouver, ensuring that whatever your priorities, there’s a perfect fit waiting for you.

Need to know

There’s something truly special about each of Vancouver’s Fairmont hotels beyond the postcard views and polished amenities. It’s the thoughtful touches, personalized service, and local tips that transform a trip into a memorable time for every member of your family, pets included.

  • Dining beyond your hotel: Each Fairmont offers unique dining experiences, so consider venturing out for a meal or a cocktail at their different properties. The concierge teams are welcoming and happy to assist with making reservations.

  • Advanced planning for busy seasons: Major events, cruise departures, and festival weekends fill Vancouver’s calendar, so book early. Sharing your preferences—whether a specific room style, allergy-friendly requirements, or family needs—ensures you get the most personalized experience.

  • Hidden highlights: For travelers who appreciate unique wellness offerings, stunning mountain-view suites, or the friendliest spots for pets, sometimes the most meaningful tips come from someone with deep, on-the-ground relationships with each Fairmont team.

  • A local’s bonus tip: Even if your journey begins in the heart of the city, allow yourself at least two full days to embrace Vancouver’s backyard. The North Shore, Squamish, and Whistler aren’t just side trips—they’re part of what makes the Lower Mainland extraordinary.
