Scarlet Nights & Sea Breeze Vibes: My Voyage on the Scarlet Lady
Curator’s statement

Virgin Voyages is seriously not your average cruise — it’s adults-only (yep, no kids!), super stylish and packed with amazing food, entertainment and vibes. Think: over 20 restaurants (all included), beach club days in Bimini and shows that are actually fun. Plus, Wi-Fi, tips and fitness classes are all covered, so you’re not constantly nickel-and-dimed. It’s perfect if you’re into cool design, great food and a laid-back but lively kind of getaway.

Sailing on Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady is like stepping into a floating boutique hotel designed just for adults. From the moment you board, the energy is sleek, modern and a little rebellious — in the best way. The vibe is totally different from traditional cruises — no kids, no outdated décor and absolutely no stuffy formal nights. Instead, you’ll find cozy hammocks on your sea terrace, mood lighting in your cabin and music playing around every corner of the ship (yes, even in the elevators). The ship feels intentionally designed for grown-ups who want fun, relaxation and a little luxury without all the cruise clichés.

Dining is hands-down one of the highlights. Scarlet Lady does away with the usual buffet and instead offers over 20 dining options, all included in your fare. From Korean BBQ at Gunbae (where you’ll play drinking games while your food sizzles) to upscale steaks and seafood at The Wake, there’s something for every craving. And if you go to The Wake, do not skip the clam chowder — they do a pour-over at the table that adds such a fancy and flavorful touch. You can grab a pressed juice in the morning, have handmade pasta at Extra Virgin for dinner and swing by The Dock for mezze and rosé by sunset. And don’t worry — room service is a thing, and even that is included (aside from a small delivery fee that’s waived if you order anything else with it).

Entertainment is edgy, immersive and honestly fun. Forget the cheesy musicals — Scarlet Lady leans into high-energy, cabaret-style performances, live DJs, pop-up acts and unique experiences like the jaw-dropping acrobatics of Duel Reality. One of the standout moments for me was Scarlet Night — an epic, ship-wide celebration where everyone dresses in red and the whole vibe shifts into full party mode. From pop-up performances to dancing under the stars, the energy is unreal. And the PJ party was an absolute blast — everyone shows up in their comfiest sleepwear, and it’s like one big cozy party. The ship is full of little surprises and themed events throughout the cruise, so there’s always something fun happening, day or night.

One of the biggest perks of sailing Virgin? What’s included. Your cruise fare covers all restaurants, Wi-Fi, tips, group fitness classes and essential drinks like still or sparkling water, sodas, tea and drip coffee. Alcoholic drinks aren’t included, and there’s no traditional drink package — but you can pre-purchase a bar tab, which works more like a credit toward drinks on board. And honestly, the drinks are fairly priced compared to most cruise lines — cocktails, wine and even fancier options won’t break the bank.

Cocktails at On the Rocks Bar

If your itinerary includes The Beach Club at Bimini, you’re in for a treat: it’s Virgin’s private beach experience with poolside cabanas, DJs and that crystal-clear water the Bahamas is famous for. Bonus: even the food at the Beach Club is included, and it’s just as fresh and delicious as what you’ll find on the ship. Scarlet Lady is perfect for travelers who want a mix of fun, freedom and flair — whether you’re cruising solo, as a couple or with a whole friend crew.

Need to know

1. Book dining early: While many dining options are included, some restaurants like The Wake and Extra Virgin can fill up fast, so it's a good idea to make reservations as soon as possible. Some specialty dining options are available on select nights, so be sure to plan ahead to get a spot!

2. Don’t forget your bar tab: Alcoholic drinks aren’t included, and there’s no drink package, but you can purchase a bar tab ahead of time. It works as a credit toward your drinks and is often a more flexible and budget-friendly option than paying per drink.

3. Pack for the vibe: Scarlet Lady has a casual, chic and modern vibe. While there’s no formal dress code, you’ll want to pack a few fun and stylish outfits for themed events like Scarlet Night (where everyone wears red!) and Pajama Night — because, yes, the ship hosts a cozy sleepwear party.

4. Use the Virgin Voyages App: Download the Virgin Voyages app ahead of time to check the daily schedule, book shore excursions, make dining reservations and even keep track of your spending. It’s an easy way to stay on top of everything happening on board!
