Unwind at The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland
Curator’s statement

This place holds special significance for me, as it marked my first visit to Europe. It also provided a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Furthermore, I celebrated a birthday and important life milestones here.

Relaxation area: hammock overlooking the Blue Lagoon at the Retreat Spa

  • The ideal hotel for relaxation & rejuvenation: This hotel is the ultimate destination for those seeking relaxation, a reset, and rest. It’s an excellent choice for travelers in search of a wellness retreat or a romantic getaway. The hotel consists of two distinct sections: The Silica Hotel and the Retreat Hotel. I had the pleasure of staying at the Retreat Hotel, which boasts private access to the Blue Lagoon and offers unlimited visits to both the Retreat Lagoon and Retreat Spa. Each time I enjoyed the Lagoon, I encountered only a handful of other guests, unlike the hundreds found on the public side.

  • Warm welcomes & stunning views: Upon our arrival, we were swiftly welcomed and introduced to our dedicated concierge team. The hotel is impeccably clean, featuring high ceilings and grand unit doors. The view of the Blue Lagoon from our room was simply breathtaking.

  • Comfort & convenience: The hotel provides comfortable robes for guests to wear throughout the day (except during dinner—proper attire is required). You can enjoy lunch at the Spa Restaurant and lounge in your robe throughout the hotel. At night, the hotel offers a turn-down service, preparing your bed and drawing the curtains, as Iceland experiences nearly constant daylight. They even leave a delightful chocolate on your pillow!

  • Culinary delights: Dining options at the hotel include three restaurants: Lava Restaurant, Moss Restaurant, and The Spa Restaurant. On the evening of my birthday, we dined at the Lava Restaurant, indulging in a four-course vegan menu that certainly did not disappoint! The dining experience was enhanced by a spectacular view of the Blue Lagoon (public side). It’s advisable to make dinner reservations in advance to secure your spot.

  • Spa services: The hotel features a spa that offers various packages, which may include lunch at the Spa Restaurant, access to the Blue Lagoon, or simply a facial and massage.

  • Breakfast offerings: Breakfast each morning featured a delightful assortment of fresh juices, fruit, baked goods, and oatmeal, ensuring a satisfying start to the day.
