Curator’s statement
I arrived in Rome for the first time with high expectations, and Chapter Roma exceeded every one of them. In the midst of a packed summer season, it was a sanctuary: stepping in from the sunlit, amber streets into a space cooled by air-conditioning, filled with soft light, subtle fragrance, and eclectic art. The staff’s welcome felt genuinely personal, punctuated by the delivery of a freshly poured glass of Prosecco to my door—a gesture as thoughtful as it was memorable. What enchanted me most was the contrast between the discreet exterior and the bold, design-forward interiors within: velvet, marble, and curated details that reveal Chapter Roma as a true hidden gem, and one that has rightfully earned its place as a Fora favorite.

Staying at Chapter Roma was the perfect way to experience the Eternal City for the first time. Nestled in the Jewish Quarter, the hotel strikes a rare balance: it feels rooted in authentic Roman life yet is within easy walking distance of landmarks like the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiori, and Trastevere. The neighborhood is calm in the mornings and buzzing with trattorias and wine bars in the evenings, always full of character. Stepping inside from the golden, sun-warmed streets felt like entering another world: cool, softly lit, and filled with bold design details that surprise at every turn. From the understated exterior, you would never guess the richness within, which is exactly what makes Chapter Roma such a hidden gem.

The rooms are as thoughtfully designed as the common spaces. I visited every category and the attention to detail was consistent throughout; the main difference being the square footage. Only the Solo Pad comes with a double bed, but starting from the Standard Double and up, every room features a king-size bed. Ceilings soar higher on the second floor, enhancing the sense of space, but all categories feel spacious and special. Warm wooden floors, marble, velvet, and brass create a layered, elegant look, with furniture by designers like Tom Dixon, Moroso & Diesel, and Seletti mixed with custom pieces from local artisans. Bathrooms are striking in their own right, with granite, marble flooring, cement walls, brass fixtures, and L:A Bruket amenities, plus bathrobes and slippers. Minibars are set up for cocktail-making, and Marshall Bluetooth speakers add a playful, personal touch; I loved putting on music while getting ready and sipping on my Prosecco before heading out for the evening.

The culinary experiences bring their own surprises. The rooftop, Hey Güey, became our go-to ritual at sunset, where cocktails and guacamole were served against a backdrop of domes glowing in golden light. The atmosphere is celebratory yet relaxed, with staff who make you feel instantly at ease. Breakfast is served daily from 7 to 11 am, with buttery pastries, seasonal fruit, and excellent coffee, while the ground-floor lounge bar sets the stage for late-night Negronis. Perhaps most exciting is Campocori, the restaurant designed by Tristan du Plessis and featured in the Michelin Guide, which reopens at the end of August 2025. With its moody interiors and upscale Roman-Italian menu, it is set to be one of the city’s most coveted dining experiences.

I recommend Chapter Roma to couples seeking a romantic city escape, design enthusiasts, and food lovers who want a stylish yet authentic Roman base. It is equally ideal for first-time visitors who want to explore on foot while having a chic retreat to return to at the end of the day. The service is warm and personal, with staff who go beyond the usual to share thoughtful touches and insider tips that make a stay feel truly memorable. More than just a hotel, Chapter Roma elevates a Roman getaway into something both intimate and grand.
Need to know
Rome is best explored on foot, so bring comfortable shoes and be prepared for cobblestones. Many of the city’s highlights are within easy walking distance of Chapter Roma, but taxis and ride-share apps are also convenient when needed. Advance bookings are essential for popular experiences like the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, or Michelin-starred dining. I always recommend planning these before arrival.
August can be very hot, so staying somewhere like Chapter Roma with reliable air-conditioning is key to keeping the trip enjoyable. For those sensitive to noise, the hotel’s quiet street and excellent soundproofing make it a rare gem in central Rome, but requesting a room away from the staircase adds extra peace of mind. While the hotel serves a generous breakfast from 7 to 11 am, it’s worth stepping out one morning to experience Antico Forno Roscioli, a legendary Roman bakery just minutes away, known for its breads and pastries.
Travelers observing Shabbat will appreciate that Chapter Roma uses traditional keys rather than key cards, making it an especially convenient choice in the city.
