During my recent stay at PGA National Resort, I had the privilege of experiencing everything this luxurious destination has to offer, from its exceptional dining and world-class golf courses to its indulgent spa, fitness facilities, and pickleball courts. The resort truly offers something for everyone, combining relaxation, adventure, and top-tier amenities in one unforgettable experience.
Dining delights: a culinary journey
One of the standout features of my stay was the resort’s remarkable dining options, which cater to a range of tastes and provide truly memorable meals.

Butcher's Club Restaurant

Butcher’s Club, a Michelin-starred steakhouse, was a true highlight of my dining experience. Known for its dry-aged steaks and impeccable attention to detail, this restaurant offers a fine-dining experience unlike any other. The atmosphere is sophisticated and the service exceptional, ensuring that every meal feels like a special occasion. The quality of the meat was unparalleled, and I can still taste the rich, smoky flavor of the steak that I had.
Honeybelle offered an entirely different but equally delightful experience. Its bright, modern ambiance paired with a menu that celebrates fresh, seasonal ingredients made for a fantastic meal. The dishes were light and flavorful, perfect for a healthy yet indulgent dining experience. Whether you’re enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Honeybelle captures the essence of contemporary cuisine with a focus on freshness.

For a more casual experience, I visited Birdie’s Diner, a charming spot offering comfort food with a twist. It’s the perfect place for a laid-back meal after a busy day, with everything from classic diner favorites to creative takes on American classics. The nostalgic vibe and friendly service make it a great option for a relaxed yet satisfying meal.
Lastly, Sushi by Bou brought a touch of Japan to PGA National Resort. This intimate, high-end sushi experience offers an omakase menu where the chef curates each dish with precision and flair. The attention to detail was phenomenal, and every bite felt like a journey through the finest flavors of Japan. It was a unique experience that stands out as one of the best sushi meals I’ve had.

Spa & wellness: total rejuvenation
After indulging in the resort’s exceptional dining, I took time to unwind at the PGA National Resort Spa, and it was the perfect way to relax. The moment I entered the spa, I was enveloped by a sense of calm. The luxurious treatments and serene atmosphere made it easy to forget about everything else. I opted for a signature massage and facial, which were both incredibly restorative. The spa also offers fitness services, and I loved the variety of treatments available to help me recharge.
Golf courses: a golfer’s paradise
Of course, the golf courses were a major highlight of my stay. With six championship courses, including the renowned Champion Course, home to the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic, PGA National Resort offers some of the best golf in the country. I had the pleasure of playing on several of the courses, and each one provided a unique challenge. The Champion Course was particularly impressive, with its challenging layout and pristine conditions. It’s truly a must-play for any golf enthusiast.

Fitness facilities & pickleball: staying active in style
The fitness facilities at PGA National Resort are top-notch. The expansive fitness center is well-equipped, with everything from cardio machines to free weights, ensuring you can maintain your workout routine during your stay. I also had the chance to try the pickleball courts, which were an unexpected but fun way to stay active. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, the courts offer a lively and enjoyable experience, with the added benefit of Florida’s beautiful weather.

Need to know
Insider knowledge & tips for PGA National Resort
Best time to visit: If you want to avoid the peak crowds and take advantage of more favorable weather, I recommend visiting PGA National Resort in the late spring or early fall. The weather is typically warm and sunny but not too hot, and the crowds are thinner compared to the winter months, making for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Golf course tips: With six championship courses, golf is at the heart of this resort. The Champion Course is the crown jewel, known for hosting the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. If you’re a serious golfer, I’d recommend getting a tee time here early in your stay to experience one of the best courses in the world. However, don’t overlook the other courses, like the Palmer or the Fazio, which are also top-notch and offer their own challenges. If you’re traveling with a group, I suggest booking multiple rounds to experience the variety of courses available.
Dining reservations: The resort’s dining options, particularly Butcher’s Club, Honeybelle, Birdie’s Diner, and Sushi by Bou, can get busy, especially during peak dining hours. To avoid long waits, I highly recommend making reservations as early as possible, particularly for Butcher’s Club (Michelin-starred steakhouse) and Sushi by Bou, which are quite popular. If you’re staying for a few days, plan your meals ahead of time to ensure you get the experience you want.
Spa experience tip: The PGA National Resort Spa is the perfect place to unwind after a day of golfing or pickleball. If you’re looking for an extra-special experience, try one of their signature treatments like the Custom Therapeutic Massage or Citrus Scrub for a true refresh. The spa also offers a quiet relaxation lounge and a heated outdoor pool that I found perfect for decompressing after a busy day. If you can, schedule your spa appointments in advance to ensure availability.
Fitness and wellness: If you’re serious about maintaining your fitness routine during your stay, the fitness center at PGA National Resort has everything you need. It’s spacious, well-equipped, and offers a variety of classes, from yoga to HIIT. I suggest attending one of their morning fitness classes before heading out to golf or enjoying a relaxing session in the spa. For a more active break, don’t miss out on the pickleball courts—these were a fun and social way to get moving while enjoying the beautiful weather.
Pickleball courts: If you’ve never played pickleball, I highly recommend giving it a try at PGA National Resort. The courts are well-maintained, and the resort offers lessons for beginners. It’s a great activity to enjoy with friends or family and a fun way to stay active. I found it to be a great way to add variety to my exercise routine while enjoying the outdoor Florida weather.
Weather considerations: Florida can get quite humid, especially during the summer, so if you’re planning to visit during this time, be prepared for high temperatures. Always have sunscreen on hand, drink plenty of water, and take breaks in the shade when needed. Early mornings and late afternoons are the best times to enjoy the golf courses or outdoor activities without the heat being too overwhelming.
Transportation around the resort: PGA National Resort is large, so you’ll likely want to make use of the resort’s shuttle service to get around, especially if you’re heading to the golf course or the spa. The shuttle service is efficient and convenient, and they’re happy to help you navigate the resort’s various amenities.
Group activities and events: If you’re visiting with a group, be sure to take advantage of the resort’s group activities and event planning services. Whether you’re organizing a corporate retreat, family reunion, or friends’ getaway, PGA National offers ample event space and can help coordinate group golf outings, team-building activities, and group dinners. It’s an ideal destination for those looking to bond while enjoying luxurious surroundings.
Don’t miss the Golf Academy: For golf enthusiasts or anyone looking to improve their game, the Golf Academy at PGA National Resort is a must-try. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, they offer personalized lessons with top-notch instructors who will help refine your skills. It’s a great way to take your game to the next level while staying at the resort.
