Little Green Bay: A Peaceful Boutique Stay on Hvar Island

Located in the peaceful Lozna Bay, Little Green Bay is a small boutique seaside retreat designed around simplicity, privacy, and a slower Mediterranean pace. Surrounded by pine trees and overlooking the Adriatic, the property feels calm and secluded while still being only a short drive from Hvar Town.

Getting there

Getting to Hvar from Split is fairly easy. After arriving at Split Airport, I took a taxi to Split Port before boarding the catamaran to Hvar Town, which takes around an hour. From there, it’s about a 10-minute drive through pine-covered hills down into Lozna Bay.

One of the first things I noticed upon arrival was how quiet the area felt. The bay itself is vehicle-free, and the hotel is hidden between the trees and stone pathways leading directly to the water. It immediately feels more relaxed and private than many of the larger resorts on the island.

The hotel & design

Little Green Bay is intentionally intimate, with only a small number of rooms and suites spread across restored stone buildings along the shoreline. The overall atmosphere feels personal and understated, more like staying in a beautifully designed seaside home than a traditional hotel.

The design throughout the property is simple and elegant: neutral tones, natural linens, wooden furniture, stone walls, and soft lighting that blends naturally into the surrounding landscape. Everything feels thoughtful without being overly formal.

The property is designed in a way that encourages you to slow down. Most days naturally revolve around swimming, reading by the water, long lunches, and quiet evenings overlooking the sea.

All beach equipment is free to use for guests: paddle-boards, kayaks, inflatables, and giant beanbags that float.

The rooms

The rooms are minimalist, comfortable, and very peaceful. Mine overlooked the water, and waking up to the sound of the sea every morning was one of the highlights of the stay.

The bathrooms were stocked with Le Labo products, which added a nice touch of understated luxury, and the rooms were cleaned daily and maintained beautifully throughout my stay.

Food & dining

The restaurant at Little Green Bay was another standout for me and honestly one of the reasons I barely left the property during my stay.

Breakfast was served overlooking the water each morning and included fresh pastries, eggs made to order, seasonal fruit, pancakes, local honey, and excellent coffee.

Lunch and dinner focused on Mediterranean cuisine and local ingredients, with dishes such as fresh fish, octopus salad, ceviche, handmade pasta, Croatian cheeses, and seafood. Meals felt relaxed and unhurried, especially in the evenings when the terrace was lit by candlelight with the sea just steps away.

There is also beach-lounger service throughout the day, which made it very easy to spend hours by the water without moving very far.

Spa & wellness

The property also has a rooftop spa area overlooking the bay, which perfectly matches the quiet atmosphere of the hotel. Combined with the sea air, pine trees, and slower pace of the property overall, it added to the feeling of complete relaxation throughout the stay.

What I appreciated most about Little Green Bay was how peaceful and unpretentious it felt. It manages to offer luxury in a very understated way, focused more on atmosphere, design, and personalized service rather than excess.

For travelers looking for a quieter and more relaxed side of Hvar Island, away from the crowds and nightlife, Little Green Bay is a very special place to stay.
