The location

Minareto is a five-star property located on the eastern coast of Sicily, within the Plemmirio Marine Reserve, just outside the city of Siracusa. Its unique location is undoubtedly what sets a stay at this hotel apart. In fact, the resort rises on a private promontory overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Plemmirio Reserve, with incomparable views of Ortigia. This exclusive resort conveys a sense of peace and beauty: on one side, the unspoiled landscape of the Plemmirio Marine Reserve, and on the other, the cultural allure of the ancient city. It’s a place that invites guests to slow down and embrace an authentic and unforgettable Sicilian experience.

The vibes

During my site inspection, I could truly appreciate the sense of relaxation this place offers its guests. Walking along its wide avenues, surrounded by a myriad of typical Mediterranean plants harmoniously placed throughout the resort to delight visitors, sipping a cocktail at sunset from the hotel’s main terrace with its exclusive view of Ortigia, swimming undisturbed in the Plemmirio Reserve with private access from the beach or the rocky coastline—these are just some of the pleasant experiences to be enjoyed at Minareto.

The resort

The hotel features 55 rooms, 23 suites, two Grand Suites, five villas, and three Grand Villas spread across different areas of the resort in small independent buildings, ensuring plenty of privacy and tranquility. Many of the suites boast spectacular sea views, some offering panoramic cliffside views or overlooking Ortigia’s Maniace Castle. The suites have been recently renovated, with designer furnishings that reflect Sicilian tradition in a refined contemporary style. Some suites come with a private pool on their terrace, while others feature a jacuzzi. For the most discerning travelers, the resort offers eight villas of varying sizes, each with a private pool, garden, exclusive design, and complete privacy—all while remaining within the resort and benefiting from its full range of services.

Services

The hotel’s restaurant enjoys a splendid terrace with views over the Plemmirio Marine Reserve, which guests can also enjoy at breakfast with a generous buffet.

The staff at Minareto are attentive and caring, and they certainly know how to make guests feel special: from thoughtful in-room amenities to the concierge service available via a messaging platform, which makes it simple to communicate with reception from anywhere in the resort—whether to request an aperitif by the sea or a snack in your room.

For relaxation lovers, the hotel offers complimentary access to three private jacuzzi spots with views over Ortigia, as well as a semi-Olympic swimming pool with an adjoining bar. In addition, inside the hotel’s scenic Minareto tower, guests will find a spa, bookable for exclusive use, along with a small gym.

Ortigia can be reached by car in just 15 to 20 minutes, or guests can take advantage of the hotel’s private taxi boat service, offering an exclusive panoramic 15-minute ride directly to Ortigia.

The hotel also owns AREA M, a restaurant and lounge in Ortigia with an exclusive seafront location. Guests can enjoy the unique experience of arriving at the restaurant directly by the hotel’s boat, which docks right at the entrance. The restaurant serves gourmet cuisine with strong ties to Italian culinary tradition.

The sea of the Plemmirio Reserve is without doubt the true star of this property, where guests can enjoy both the private cliff area equipped with a solarium—which in the evening, on request, can be transformed into an exclusive venue for a private dinner by the water—or the golden sandy beach, accessible through a short tunnel.

Minareto caters to a wide variety of travelers. Couples will discover a romantic atmosphere and idyllic settings for an intimate escape. Families will appreciate the spacious accommodations, outdoor activities, and the sandy beach, ideal for children. Culture enthusiasts are just minutes away from Siracusa and Ortigia, a UNESCO World Heritage site rich in history and charm. For those in search of wellness and relaxation, the seafront lounges and the tranquil atmosphere provide the perfect setting to unwind.
