Curator’s statement
Panama City, Panama offers a unique blend of modern skyscrapers, colonial charm, rich history, and tropical experiences. The American dollar is the main currency, making it a must-visit destination. The resort was very peaceful, but you can enjoy many family-friendly activities as well as go off property to enjoy urban attractions. The resort has five restaurants, and I was able to dine at a different restaurant each day to enjoy French, Italian, seafood, and international cuisine with no reservations. The restaurants do offer gluten-free menus and options for a variety of dietary needs.

Dreams Playa Bonita Panama is a strong option for travelers who want an all-inclusive stay that feels more relaxed and intimate than a large, high-energy resort. The beachfront setting is peaceful, and during our stay it never felt overcrowded, which made it especially appealing for couples looking to unwind. At the same time, the resort still works well for families thanks to its kid-friendly activities and easy, low-stress layout.

One of the highlights of our stay was the Preferred Club experience, which added thoughtful extras that made the trip feel even more comfortable. Perks such as a complimentary cabana, lounge access, premium liquors, and upgraded in-room amenities helped create a more elevated experience without taking away from the resort’s easygoing atmosphere. This is the kind of property I would recommend for clients who value convenience and a few enhanced touches, but do not need an over-the-top luxury environment to feel well taken care of.

Another major advantage is the resort’s location, which makes it easy to combine beach time with sightseeing. From the property, we were able to visit the Panama Canal and learn more about its history and engineering, then head into Panama City for shopping, dining, and a more urban change of pace. That balance of resort relaxation and off-property exploration is what makes this stay feel especially versatile for travelers who want both downtime and destination experiences.

Dining was another pleasant surprise, with multiple restaurants that allowed us to enjoy a different cuisine each day without needing reservations. I would especially recommend Dreams Playa Bonita for couples, families, and celebratory trips where travelers want the ease of an all-inclusive resort but also appreciate being within reach of cultural attractions and city activities. Waking up to the sound of the waves and ending the day with that mix of comfort and convenience made this a memorable stay.

Need to know
Travelers heading to Panama City can use U.S. dollars throughout Panama, as they are accepted at a 1:1 rate with the Panamanian balboa, so there is no need to exchange money before arrival. Bringing small bills is helpful for optional tipping. Dreams Playa Bonita does not offer an airport shuttle, but reliable private transportation can be arranged in advance. Guests also do not need to book excursions before arrival, as the resort’s concierge can help schedule tours once on site. Families will appreciate the many activities available for children, including the Explorer’s Club for ages 3 to 12, along with arts and crafts, a playground, video games and movie nights. I also recommend bringing mosquito repellent, since the resort’s packets may not be enough for a longer stay.
