As our vehicle entered the hotel grounds, we were met by staff who welcomed us by name, assisted with luggage, and quickly showed us to the welcome lounge. This space is perched at the highest point of the resort and overlooks the stunning Gulf of Thailand. It was a great place to cool off with a refreshing towel and welcome drink. Registration was quick and we were soon whisked away.

As we rode a golf cart to our villa, we got a quick overview of the property. Our first thoughts were, how on earth did they build this on the side of a mountain while preserving the natural surroundings? I later learned that not a single tree was cut down during construction, which truly impressed us. Our villa was nestled right into the forest, high enough to catch ocean views but without disturbing the thriving trees around us. It felt like walking into an untouched paradise.

I originally booked the Serenity Pool Villa but was upgraded to the Island Ocean Pool Villa. The villa was nothing short of amazing: spacious, beautifully designed, and tucked seamlessly into the jungle canopy. The layout provided privacy and a sense of calm. Design-wise, it did exude the aesthetics of a jungle hideaway and made us feel like we were in Thailand. The bathroom area was a highlight with a standalone soaking tub and a wardrobe with separate his and hers areas.

One minor downside was the lack of seating inside the villa. To fit our 10-year-old son's bed, two chairs were removed, which meant there was no comfortable spot to sit inside and enjoy the air conditioning—a welcome comfort given how unbearably hot it can get in Koh Samui.

Outside, the private infinity pool and deck were perfect for relaxing. We spent hours watching squirrels parkour across the trees and listening to the cicadas sing their jungle song.

Four Seasons does a fantastic job recognizing children. On the separate single bed for our son, his name was spelled out in foam letters, complete with a brand-new T-shirt, and even a portable blender with tropical fruits to make smoothies—truly thoughtful touches that made the stay special for him.

The service at Four Seasons Koh Samui was impeccable. Whenever we left for breakfast, the housekeeping team timed their cleaning perfectly so our room was serviced before we returned—an amazing touch that set the tone for relaxed mornings. Golf carts seemed to magically appear whenever we moved from one place to another, whether it was the bar, the pool, or breakfast. The drivers greeted us warmly and by name every time, making us feel instantly welcomed. When I called to confirm our airport transfer, the staff also reminded me about my scheduled site visit for the next day, showing how closely they track guests’ needs discreetly and thoughtfully. This anticipatory service, delivered with warmth but never overbearing, truly elevated our stay.

We did enjoy the Koh Bar for drinks and the Koh Thai Kitchen for authentic Thai dinner. We also checked out the Kids Club (The Tree House) for our son, but it was quiet during our visit and he was a bit shy to stay. Still, the staff were welcoming and offered to keep him company, showing the resort’s genuine care for families.

Need to know

Who should stay here?

This resort is perfect for couples celebrating special occasions, families (including multi-generational groups), and anyone seeking privacy and luxury. The villas are spaced far enough apart that you feel completely secluded until you want to mingle in common areas. And if you have the budget (or love the vibe), it’s the kind of place families from "White Lotus" would call home.

Things to consider

  • The resort is very secluded—there’s no walking to nearby shops or markets. Plan your transport accordingly.

  • Mosquitoes are part of island life. The resort handles this well with mosquito repellent in the villa, regular fumigation, and personal repellents provided, but bring your own just in case.

  • Koh Samui is humid year-round, with October and November as the rainy season. Lightweight, breathable linen clothing is essential.

  • The Four Seasons is one of the highest-priced resorts on the island. Consider splitting your stay with other resorts or a city like Bangkok to stretch your budget.
