Luxury Hotels in Portland, Oregon: Ritz-Carlton Site Inspection
Curator’s statement

In February of 2024, I did a site inspection while visiting the stunning city of Portland, Oregon. One of my favorite stops was the newly opened Ritz-Carlton Portland; it checked all the boxes for what a new downtown property should have.

There is a welcoming lobby bar called Meadowrue, a gorgeous restaurant on the 20th floor overlooking the city called Bellpine, a state of the art spa, and a “must see to believe” pool and fitness center on the 19th floor. I have been referring my clients to this new and stunning property in Downtown PDX. It is certainly one of the best in the Pacific Northwest.

Background

The Ritz-Carlton Portland opened in late October of 2023. This is the first property in the Pacific Northwest for the brand, and its central location offers uninterrupted views of Portland’s skyline, the Cascade Mountain Range and the Willamette River. The 35-story stunner adds a notable sparkle to the Portland cityscape, and Oregonians are excited for the new luxury option centrally located in the city.

Location

The Ritz-Carlton Portland shines in the heart of Downtown Portland on SW Washington Street. It is easily walkable to some delicious restaurants, renowned food carts, lively nightlife, modern mixology and exciting entertainment.

The Rooms

The Ritz-Carlton Portland features 251 guest rooms and suites. The entry level guestroom, the Deluxe Guestroom, is stunning and spacious at 516 square feet. There is also a Grand Deluxe room and Executive Suite room category, with the option to connect. The Executive Suites are on the corner and expand to over 905 square feet, with jaw dropping views of the cityscape and mountains. For a heightened level of luxury, the hotel features a Club Level that can be added to any room category and includes an exclusive club lounge, meeting space, top of the line amenities, multiple drink and culinary presentations throughout the day and a dedicated concierge.

The property

The Ritz-Carlton leaves no stone unturned. There is an onsite signature gourmet restaurant serving sharable plates like albacore and wagyu beef tartare, a sexy forest-inspired lobby bar with high-end mixology and a personable staff, a massive fitness center with a city view, a rose-inspired day spa that happens to be the only on-site spa in Downtown Portland, a responsive underground valet parking team, and almost 18,000 square feet of modern meeting space for weddings, parties and corporate events. The property is kid friendly and allows your furry friends to stay as well.

The vibe is upscale Portland, the staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, the service is seamless and the aesthetic is Pacific Northwest modern with the subtle scent of fig leaves and black pepper.

Need to Know

I highly recommend the Portland Ritz-Carlton to my clients looking for a luxury stay in Portland. The service, amenities and location are some of the best in the Pacific Northwest.
