Curator’s statement
I’ve long been a fan of Mayakoba and the Alila brand, so I was excited to hear about the new opening. I had the chance to visit during their soft opening before the March 20, 2026 launch, and the design is beautiful, giving Mayakoba a fresh, updated feel. With its expansive, open layout, Alila brings together nature and hospitality, offering immersive spa experiences, delicious dining options, and hands down the most beautiful hotel gym I’ve ever seen!

I’m an immediate fan when the check-in process takes place outdoors. The open ceiling, resembling a cenote, and spacious entrance, give you a feeling of individuality the second you step onto the property. You’re greeted with a welcoming ceremony, something I’ve never seen at another hotel, which instantly makes you feel like you’ve left city life behind for a well-deserved tropical vacation.

Alila cenote outdoor check-in area
You’ll be escorted to your room, with options ranging from beachfront access and oceanview rooms to those with plunge pools or overlooking the lagoon. You really cannot go wrong with whatever option you choose, but beachfront is always my favorite.

You absolutely need to spend some serious time at the spa and gym. There’s even an outdoor boxing bag, a Peloton, and the latest in Pilates equipment. If you plan on spending some serious time here, you can even get a room overlooking the spa for convenience.

Regardless of whether you’re a beach or pool person, you’re definitely going to want to spend time at both. There are two pools, one located right next to Alisio Beach Club. Each area features distinct dining options, and you’ll want to try each spot during your stay.
Dining includes:
Alisio Beach Club: Hangout, eat, and drink at this luxe, European-feeling spot to spend the day at.
Casa Amate: One of my fave restaurants in Mayakoba, you must make a dinner reservation here!
El Huerto/Chef’s Atelier: Private chef-driven experience for dinner. Coordinate with the hotel to make a reservation.
Xiim Bar: Right when you enter Alila’s cenote-inspired entrance, you’ll see Xiim Bar. Grab a cocktail, listen to music, hang out by the firepits,
Na Cocina Local: Open-kitchen dining destination serving up traditional Mexican food with a twist.
Ninguno Taqueria: AMAZING tacos!! This place takes Mexican street food to a whole new level.

Best time hanging at the beach club!
Need to know
It’s easiest to fly into Cancún International Airport, but if you find better flight times and deals, Tulum International Airport is only 15 miles further away than Cancún.
