Curator’s statement
I booked this solo trip to Hershey during a packed work week, secretly hoping it would give me space to breathe, and it delivered more than I expected. Between the vintage charm of The Hotel Hershey, a chocolate pedicure that felt like therapy, and the quiet corners of Hershey Gardens during peak fall, this trip reminded me how restorative a quick 24-hour reset can be. Hershey is not just for theme park families. It is also a perfect escape for women who take care of everyone else and need one sweet day to themselves.

Here is exactly how I spent 24 hours in Hershey and why I recommend each stop.
Arrival & check in at The Hotel Hershey: I flew into Harrisburg the evening before, picked up my rental car, and took the short 20-minute ride into Hershey. The drive surprised me with rolling hills, small-town quiet, and the crisp scent of fall. I felt myself slowing down before I even arrived. Checking into The Hotel Hershey set the tone for the entire trip. The property boasts unmistakable 1930s elegance, characterized by dark wood, warm lighting, and an old Hollywood ambiance that instantly invites relaxation. If you enjoy hotels with character and history, this property stands out. Tip: Ask for a room with a garden view. Waking up to the fall colors was the perfect start to the morning.
Morning ritual at Lisa’s Café: Before logging into work, I stopped at Lisa’s Café, a cozy local spot where it feels like everyone is a regular. I ordered the iced caramel apple latte, which tasted like fall in a cup. The combination of cinnamon, caramel, and apple flavors feels nostalgic and comforting. Tip: They also have a wonderful selection for breakfast and brunch that you will want to try. If you are looking for more history about the Hershey legacy, visit the Hershey Story Museum, which is right down the hall.

MeltSpa by Hershey: The Sweet Dark Chocolate Pedicure: After finishing work, I treated myself to the Sweet Dark Chocolate Pedicure at MeltSpa. This is not a standard pedicure. They exfoliate your legs with a chocolate scrub and then apply a velvety mousse mask. The entire experience smells like warm chocolate without being overwhelming. The friendly staff greeted me and offered a warm cup of tea, which was delightful and appreciated. Insider tip: There are two locations for this spa. One is located in the Hershey Hotel itself, and the other is in town right next door to Lisa’s Café. Both offer the same menu of services.
Lunch at Trevi 5: Trevi 5 is located inside The Hotel Hershey and has a stylish but comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the Hershey Kiss Signature Chocolate Martini, the “She” Crab Soup, and the Margherita pizza. The soup was rich and perfectly flavored, and the martini felt like having dessert. Tip: If you are planning MeltSpa beforehand, book your lunch reservation right after for a seamless and relaxing experience.

Hershey Gardens—The moment I did not want to leave: This was the highlight of my trip. I walked across the street to Hershey Gardens, and since it was November, I felt like I had the entire place to myself. The leaves were deep shades of gold and red, and the crisp air made everything feel calm and cinematic. I explored the Butterfly Atrium, which is warm, colorful, and peaceful, then wandered through the outdoor gardens. Eventually, I laid out a blanket under a large tree, sat in the fallen leaves, and read my book. It felt like time had slowed down in the best way possible. Personal tip: Bring a blanket and a book. Sitting under the trees in autumn is the most peaceful way to enjoy the gardens, and guess what… they allow it.
Dinner at The Chocolatier: Before heading back to the airport, I stopped at The Chocolatier. It is located just outside Hershey Park and is a fun, casual spot to end the day. I ordered the Cocoa Dusted Beef Short Ribs, which were tender, rich, and had a unique and subtle chocolate touch without being too sweet. I ended the meal with a chocolate dessert because it felt like the perfect final note in Hershey. Tip: This restaurant sits just above a major Hershey Souvenir shop, perfect for grabbing your gifts for friends and family, or some of your favorites for yourself.
