Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau
There are multiple itineraries for Alaska through Princess but the one I chose went round-trip out of Seattle, Washington and was the inside passage. The inside passage is great for being able to view glaciers, scenery, all while being on calm water for those who may get motion sick like me. Princess is the number one choice for Alaska cruises because of its history and permits to get into Glacier Bay National Park.

You’ll start by departing Seattle, Washington where you can visit the infamous gum wall and Pike’s Place. Enjoy your first day on the ship as it will be a sea day, but don’t worry, there’s lots to do on Princess cruises for everyone such as basketball tournaments and game shows. The next day you’ll arrive in Juneau where you can see plenty of bald eagles, visit Tracy’s Crab Shack, and take a bus up to the Mendenhall Glacier to also view Nugget Falls.

Day two stops in Skagway Alaska where you can take a three-hour train ride of the White Pass Scenic Railway, gold pan, go dog sledding, or just explore the town with a Klondike Doughboy in hand. Day three is a scenic cruising day where a park ranger comes onboard to talk about Glacier Bay National Park. This National Park is absolutely stunning with its bright blue water and be sure to bundle up for the views of the glaciers and wildlife such as sea otters, seals, and whales.

You’re fourth port will stop in Ketchikan, Alaska where you can view totem poles, watch a lumberjack show, canoe, fish, or walk Creek Street to try and spot some salmon. After this port, you’ll head to Victoria, Canada where you can go downtown to walk around and bar hop all before heading back to Seattle.

Need to know
Pack plenty of layers! One day it might be sunny and 72 in Juneau and the next day it might be rainy and 50 degrees in Ketchikan. Glacier Bay National Park is especially cold at 30 degrees!
