Curator’s statement
My wife and I have been dying to go to Scottsdale for a few years now. When we found out we were pregnant with our first child, we knew Scottsdale was exactly where we wanted to go for our babymoon for a mix of adventure and relaxation before our son is born in August!

The property
The second we started planning our trip, we quickly narrowed down our hotel options and landed on the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess for its beautiful grounds, luxurious amenities, and close proximity to a lot of the activities we wanted to do in Scottsdale. The resort sits on a massive 65 acres, all of which are pristinely maintained. Spread out across the resort, you will find seven hotel buildings plus the separate Fairmont Gold and Privado suites and villas. Six pools are spread out around the property, including the rooftop spa pool, an adults-only pool, and our personal favorite, the Sunset Beach pool, which was created with gorgeous white sand brought in all the way from Miami.

Amenities
The amenities and service during our stay were fantastic. From a personalized welcome letter and pregnancy snacks for my wife, a free upgrade on our room, the spa, and every employee we encountered, everything was top-notch. I opted to play a round of golf at TPC Scottsdale one morning while my wife indulged in some well-deserved rest and relaxation at the spa. The concierge was fantastic and booked my round at TPC, and assisted with the spa services for my wife. The hotel operates a free shuttle to and from TPC which was also a nice touch.

Accommodation
Back to the room—it was absolutely gorgeous. After our upgrade, we ended up in the freshly remodeled Sunset Beach wing, with a balcony that looked directly at the beautiful Sunset Beach pool. As you might imagine, the sunsets from our balcony overlooking the pool were fantastic!
Location
The location was also perfect for us. The resort is located in North Scottsdale, a quick 30 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. There are plenty of exceptional dining options within 10 minutes of the hotel, plus several great golf courses. We went to Old Town Scottsdale several times during our stay, which was only a 15 minute drive, and offers even more great dining, shopping, bars, and more.

Need to know
Scottsdale is renowned for its golf, so if you are a golfer you will be in heaven! I played TPC Scottsdale one day and We-Ko-Pa Saguaro another day where my wife joined me. Both courses were in fantastic shape and offered amazing views of the desert landscape.
We flew from JFK in New York non-stop to Phoenix. We spoiled ourselves for our babymoon and opted for Mint seats, and I would 100% recommend them! The lay-flat seats were so comfortable and getting some sleep on the flight let us enjoy our first day entirely instead of being exhausted from the early wake up, long flight, and jet lag.
We dined at several great restaurants, but our two favorites were Jojo’s Coffeehouse in Old Town for breakfast, and Elements at Sanctuary, a fantastic restaurant at the Elements Spa hotel in North Scottsdale for dinner. I would highly recommend both, and for Elements, book a dining time around sunset for incredible views!
