Curator’s statement
As a travel advisor, I visit a lot of luxury resorts, but Conrad Punta de Mita immediately stood out for how effortlessly it blends five-star luxury with authentic Mexican culture. Rather than feeling like a large, generic beachfront resort, it feels intentionally designed around the destination—from the local artwork and cuisine to the wellness experiences inspired by indigenous traditions. What surprised me most was the value. Guests enjoy spacious accommodations, exceptional dining, multiple pools, personalized service, and unforgettable experiences without the price tag often associated with comparable luxury resorts. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a milestone celebration, this is a property I would confidently recommend.

I recently had the opportunity to experience Conrad Punta de Mita during a trip with fellow Houston travel advisors, and, after four days exploring every corner of the property, I left genuinely impressed.

Welcoming lobby that leads you to a beautiful stay with ocean views
Located about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta Airport, Conrad Punta de Mita sits on a peaceful stretch of Pacific coastline in Riviera Nayarit. The resort feels secluded and relaxing while still being close enough to charming towns like Sayulita and Punta de Mita for an easy afternoon excursion. The moment I arrived—with a refreshing welcome drink and warm hospitality—it was clear that service is one of the resort's greatest strengths.

Enjoy a casual beachside meal at Mezquite
I stayed in an Ocean View Signature Suite with a private plunge pool, and it quickly became one of my favorite accommodations I've experienced in Mexico. Waking up to panoramic views of the Pacific framed by swaying palm trees and enjoying coffee on my private terrace each morning felt incredibly peaceful. The plunge pool and spacious outdoor living area made it difficult to leave the room.

Spacious rooms with a light and airy ambience for a restful stay
One thing Conrad Punta de Mita does exceptionally well is offer something for every type of traveler. Adults can unwind at the tranquil infinity pool with private cabanas, while families have a separate pool complete with a waterslide for children. The resort never felt overcrowded despite its size, making it easy to find quiet spaces to relax.

Enjoy fresh locally sourced meals like ceviche served by the finest hospitality
The dining exceeded my expectations throughout the stay. Arbol Cucina served one of my favorite breakfast buffets of the trip, complete with made-to-order omelets, fresh chilaquiles, pozole, and quesadillas. Poolside lunches at Paleta were perfect for hot afternoons, while Mesquite delivered one of the most memorable meals of the trip with traditional pescado zarandeado served family-style just steps from the beach. My favorite dining experience, however, was the multi-course tasting menu at Codex. Every course showcased regional ingredients with creative presentation, making it well worth reserving a table in advance.

Beyond beautiful pools and excellent restaurants, the resort does an outstanding job incorporating local culture into the guest experience. One morning, we participated in a Wixárika-inspired art workshop that highlighted the traditions of the region's Indigenous artisans. It was a thoughtful reminder that this destination offers much more than just beaches.

If you book a room with a private plunge room, order a floating breakfast to enjoy with a view of the Pacific Ocean
The wellness program also deserves special recognition. The Conrad Spa features one of the most comprehensive hydrotherapy circuits I've experienced, including saunas, hot and cold immersion pools, and guided relaxation. We also learned about the traditional Temazcal ceremony, an ancient purification ritual led by a local healer, followed by an outdoor sound healing session overlooking nature. Even guests who don't typically prioritize spa experiences should carve out time for this part of the resort.

Rest and recharge at the Conrad Spa, where you can experience hydrotherapy, cold plunges, a sound bath, and a much deserved massage.
The property offers enough activities to fill an entire vacation, but I highly recommend venturing beyond the resort for at least one afternoon. Sayulita offers colorful streets lined with boutiques, local cafés, and an energetic surf-town atmosphere, while nearby Punta de Mita provides a quieter evening experience with rooftop cocktails at Hoja Santa Punta de Minta overlooking the marina before dinner at one of the town's excellent local restaurants.

Need to know
My favorite experiences
Reserve a private cabana at the adults-only pool for a relaxing afternoon.
Schedule the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa—it was one of the highlights of my stay.
Order the floating breakfast if you're staying in a suite with a plunge pool. Anticipate a 45-minute wait if you order the morning of. Pro tip: Place your order the night before if you have something scheduled in the morning.
Don't miss a beachfront meal at Mezquite.
Plan at least one dinner at Codex for an elevated culinary experience.
Visit both Sayulita and Punta de Mita during your stay to experience the local culture beyond the resort.
Wildlife you may encounter while staying in Riviera Nayarit
One of my favorite unexpected parts of staying at Conrad Punta de Mita was the wildlife. Don't be surprised if you spot adorable coatis (often affectionately called coatis or coatimundis) wandering the grounds or tiny crabs scurrying along the pathways and beach. The resort is thoughtfully integrated into its natural surroundings, making these encounters feel like part of the experience rather than a novelty. Watching the local wildlife coexist with the lush tropical landscape adds another layer of charm and reminds you that you're truly immersed in the beauty of Riviera Nayarit.
Room recommendation
If your budget allows, reserve an Ocean View or Oceanfront Suite on one of the upper floors. The elevated views of the Pacific Ocean are spectacular, and the private plunge pool creates a resort-within-a-resort experience.
Who I would recommend this resort for
One of the things I appreciated most about Conrad Punta de Mita is its versatility. I would happily book this property for:
Couples celebrating anniversaries or honeymoons
Families looking for luxury without sacrificing kid-friendly amenities
Multi-generational vacations, thanks to spacious residences and suites
Friends celebrating milestone birthdays
Solo travelers looking for a relaxing wellness escape
Food lovers who appreciate exceptional dining experiences
Unlike some luxury resorts that cater primarily to one type of traveler, Conrad Punta de Mita truly delivers an experience that feels equally welcoming whether you're traveling with children, as a couple, or simply looking for a peaceful getaway.
Overall recommendation
Conrad Punta de Mita strikes an impressive balance between refined luxury, authentic cultural experiences, and genuine relaxation. It never feels pretentious, yet every detail—from the personalized service to the thoughtfully designed rooms and exceptional dining—reflects the quality you'd expect from a world-class resort. It's the kind of property where you can spend an entire week without leaving, yet its location also makes it an ideal base for exploring the Riviera Nayarit region.
After experiencing it firsthand, it's a resort I would enthusiastically recommend to clients looking for luxury in Mexico that feels elevated, memorable, and surprisingly attainable.
