Curator’s statement
I chose this stunning resort as the venue for my wedding. After contacting multiple hotels—some responded while others did not—I spent time reading reviews and browsing consumer photos. Ultimately, I decided on Sugar Beach. They offered a range of packages, the views were exceptional, and their menu featured a variety of vegan options.

From the moment we stepped out of the airport and took the elevated, winding roads to the resort, I was excited. We pulled up to Viceroy’s private, gated entrance, guarded by security and continued ascending the mountain—I knew we were in for a treat.

The resort exceeded our expectations and appeared even more stunning than in the photos. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed at the main entrance, where we were offered drinks and assistance with our luggage while we checked into our room. The check-in process was quick, and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that our room had been upgraded.
Upon our arrival at our rooms, we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of champagne and a heartfelt note from the wedding planning team and the General Manager, expressing their gratitude for our stay and welcoming us to the resort.

Our room patio and pool
The rooms feature a “clean” aesthetic, showcasing dark floors paired with crisp white linens and a breathtaking view of the Pitons. We enjoyed a spacious closet—larger than my own at home—a soaking tub, and a separate shower. The living area was complete with comfortable couches and a television, as well as a half bath.
Stepping outside through the patio doors, we found a table and beach chairs, along with not just one, but two pools: an infinity pool and a smaller one. Our villa came with a butler, available to assist us with anything we needed, whether it was rides to different areas of the resort, soap, or more champagne.

The pool in our villa
I am a health-conscious eater, so my favorite spot was Boopa’s. They offer a variety of healthy, vegan-friendly protein bars, snacks, and even refreshing sea moss smoothies! The other restaurants—Bonte, Saltwood, and Jalousie Grill—also feature either dedicated vegan menus or a healthy array of vegan options for even the pickiest eaters.
We frequently dined at Jalousie Grill. On our second evening, after enjoying a sunset cruise, we headed to the buffet BBQ. We were absolutely amazed by the extensive selection of food, ranging from crab to rice and even pineapple upside-down cake. I discovered plenty of vegan choices at the buffet, but the chef personally approached me to ensure I had enough options and offered some extras. He even brought out a delicious dish of curry tofu with rice! On another night, one of our waiters entertained us with a delightful anecdote every time he visited our table.

I, along with my bridesmaids, had our hair and makeup done at the hotel salon by their skilled staff. They demonstrated great expertise in the process, and since I’m quite particular, we successfully collaborated to arrive at a hairstyle we all liked. My husband and I also treated ourselves to manicures and pedicures the day prior. Although I forgot to schedule haircuts for my father, husband, and best man ahead of time, the salon kindly accommodated us at the last moment.

The spa walkway entrance
On the day before the wedding, my husband and I enjoyed a visit to the sauna followed by a couples massage at the Rainforest Spa, which was absolutely heavenly. During my stay, I also utilized the gym, which was well-maintained and equipped with a variety of machines, all in working order, along with several classes. On the morning of my wedding, my cousins took part in a complimentary yoga class while my youngest sister went for a jog around the resort, and I made use of the treadmill, all while taking in stunning ocean views.

I wholeheartedly recommend Sugar Beach Resort! If you’re considering this beautiful location for your wedding, anniversary, honeymoon, or simply a much-needed getaway, don’t hesitate—go for it!

The beach
There are numerous stunning spots around the resort to capture those once-in-a-lifetime photos, including:
The Sunset Deck
The Great Lawn
The beach
South Pier
Your own room!
While some of my relatives can be a bit demanding, the hotel staff managed everyone with utmost respect and grace, always wearing a warm smile. They readily accommodated all our requests for dining, lodging, and transportation.
Throughout the resort, you will find captivating artwork, and the views of the Pitons are absolutely breathtaking. I even noticed during our boat tour that guests from other resorts and hotels flocked to the Sugar Beach side just to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Need to know
If you’re adventurous, there is a helicopter ride you can take from the airport to the resort. Whether you take a bus, car, or helicopter, it is advantageous to schedule it in advance.
Also, the resort is European style (a la carte), but they do have an all-inclusive option you can select when you book the resort.
There are plenty of things to do at the hotel, but you can venture outside the hotel for:
Ziplining in the mountains (Pitons)
Hiking up the mountains
Taking a trip into town to Soufriere to shop at the local shops
Going on a catamaran cruise
Visiting the mudbaths and waterfalls
Taking an ATV tour
Bamboo rafting, horseback riding, or snorkeling.
