Site Inspection at Il Borro in Tuscany, Italy

Il Borro is located about an hour drive from Florence airport, in the heart of Tuscany, near the city of Arezzo. It’s best to arrange a car service from the airport given the longer drive, but it's absolutely worth it! While driving from Florence airport to Il Borro, you’ll be transported into the rolling Tuscan hills and travel along beautiful landscapes and vineyards.

Upon arrival to Il Borro, you’ll be led through large iron gates to a picturesque view of a cypress tree lined driveway leading up to the main house on the Il Borro property. You’ll be welcomed attentively by the Il Borro staff who are eagerly awaiting to show you up the cobblestone walkway to your room, part of a medieval village. The rooms are quite large with many including a full sitting area, dress area and large marble bathrooms.

While I’m sure you’ll want to also explore the wineries and restaurants throughout Tuscany, Il Borro has plenty to do on site. From going on a tour of their beautiful wine celler and tasting the Il Borro made wines, to walking through the unique onsite art gallery, along with horseback riding in the countryside while relaxing at their beautiful spa and infinity pool, there are so many ways to experience the delights of Tuscany not having to leave Il Borro.

Il Borro has three pools all with beautiful vantage points. In addition they have on site local shops where you can purchase textiles, jewelry and leather goods you’d only find in Italy.

Il Borro also has two restaurant offerings. The delicious and more casual Tuscan Bistro and then the scenic more fancy Osteria del Borro. Osteria del Borro was such a special meal and view and I greatly enjoyed the iconic Bistecca alla fiorentina with the perfect Tuscan red wine.

Il Borro concierge is so helpful in coordinating outings to vineyards, restaurants or other sites you’d like to visit while in Tuscany as well. We wish we had even more time to just enjoy Il Borro and the onsite activities and there was so much to do without leaving the premises. It is truly a unique hotel as you feel like you’re transported to a different time and place in a beautiful setting.

I recommend Il Borro to couples that are food and wine lovers, looking for a boutique and unique stay where there is plenty to do onsite. It’s a perfect getaway to just enjoy the premises and relax in Tuscany in a beautiful setting or a great home base to explore all that Tuscany has to offer.
