Es Trenc (Ses Covetes): My favorite beach in Mallorca

If I had to pick just one beach in Mallorca, Es Trenc would be it! Stretching along the island’s southern coast, this unspoiled paradise is all about natural beauty — soft golden sand, rolling dunes and impossibly clear, shallow waters. It’s the perfect mix of wild and serene.

Getting there: Arrive early, especially in peak season, to snag a parking spot in Ses Covetes. Trust me, it fills up fast!

Why you'll love it:

  • The beach runs for several kilometers, offering plenty of space to spread out. The gentle, shallow waters make it a fantastic spot for families, and the crystal-clear sea is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Whether you're floating in the calm waves or taking a long stroll along the shore, Es Trenc is pure beach bliss!

Parc Natural de Mondragó: Mallorca’s untouched paradise

Tucked along Mallorca’s southeastern coast, Parc Natural de Mondragó is a stunning natural reserve that covers 766 hectares of cliffs, sandy beaches, pine forests and hidden coves. If you're a nature lover or just looking for a peaceful escape, this place is a must-see!

Getting there: Whether you’re driving or arriving by boat, it’s super easy to get to Mondragó. There’s street parking available, but if you choose the boat, you’ll get the bonus of taking in the coastline before you even step foot in this beautiful reserve.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Two gorgeous beaches: Parc Natural de Mondragó is home to Cala Mondragó and S’Amarador, both beaches you’ll fall in love with. Cala Mondragó is a dreamy little cove with soft, white sand and crystal-clear waters. S’Amarador, on the other hand, has a larger sandy beach surrounded by pine trees, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Both beaches are pristine, ideal for swimming and snorkeling, and offer a peaceful escape from the crowds.

  • Hiking and wildlife: The park isn’t just about the beaches! It has a bunch of well-marked hiking trails that range from easy walks to scenic routes leading to beautiful viewpoints and hidden coves. And if you’re into wildlife, you’ll be in luck — look out for Hermann’s tortoises, ospreys, Audouin’s gulls and migratory birds that pass through year-round.

So, whether you're craving a chill day at the beach, an adventurous hike or just want to connect with nature, Parc Natural de Mondragó is the perfect spot to immerse yourself in Mallorca’s wild beauty!

Cala Pi: A secluded cove with stunning views

Located on the southern coast of Mallorca, Cala Pi is a serene cove that offers the perfect mix of beauty and tranquility. The beach, though small, is incredibly picturesque with its soft, golden sand that gently slopes into clear, inviting waters — ideal for swimming, snorkeling or just lounging under the sun. Accessing the beach involves descending a set of stairs, and since it’s a popular spot, arriving early will ensure a more peaceful experience.

Getting there: To reach Cala Pi, you can easily drive from Palma, which takes about 40 minutes. There’s parking near the beach, but since it can fill up quickly, it’s a good idea to arrive early. Alternatively, public transport options are available, though renting a car gives you the flexibility to explore at your own pace.

Why you’ll love it:

  • History & views: Perched above the cove is the Cala Pi Tower, a historic watchtower dating back to the 16th century. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding coastline, making it a must-visit for photographers and history enthusiasts

  • Hiking & nature: For nature lovers, Cala Pi is surrounded by scenic hiking trails that lead to stunning vistas of the Mediterranean Sea and the rugged Mallorcan coastline. Take a walk through the cliffs and pine forests, but remember to wear shoes with good traction — flip-flops are better suited for the beach!

  • Amenities & dining: While Cala Pi remains relatively secluded, there are a few nearby restaurants and beach bars where you can enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink. Amenities like toilets and showers are also available for your convenience.

Whether you're looking for a peaceful beach day, a bit of history or a scenic hike, Cala Pi is a beautiful escape that captures the essence of Mallorca’s natural charm.

More beaches to explore

If you find yourself with more than just a few days to spare on the island and crave further exploration of its stunning beaches, here's a curated list of some additional spectacular ones to consider:

  • Caló des Moro

  • Cala Deià

  • Cala Santanyi

  • Cala Sa Calobra

  • Cala Llombards

Places to eat & drink

  • Ca Na Toneta: In the sweet village of Caimari, sisters Maria and Teresa Solivellas have created something pretty amazing. Their restaurant serves up modern rustic dishes made from local, seasonal ingredients from nearby farmers and fishermen. The 10-course menu changes weekly and costs 82 Euros, giving you a real taste of Mallorca in a cozy stone house.

  • El Bungalow: For the perfect Spanish seaside vibe, El Bungalow in Ciudad Jardín is the place to be. Their icy gazpacho, seven types of paella and fresh fish a la plancha are all spot-on. Plus, the retro décor and the terrace with views of Palma Bay make it the ideal spot to relax and enjoy a delicious meal.

  • Es Fanals: Located at the Jumeirah Port Sóller Hotel & Spa, Es Fanals has incredible views of the Sierra de Tramuntana and the sea from its terrace. The restaurant serves three menus — Sabores de Mallorca, Gran Baleárico and Baleárico Verde — with a focus on local flavors. And the sunsets? Total showstoppers!

Tips for an epic Mallorca beach trip

  • Plan your beach-hopping adventure: Mallorca is packed with stunning beaches, from easy-access sandy stretches to hidden coves that take a little effort to reach. Don’t try to squeeze too many into one day — half the fun is soaking it all in! Do a little research on driving routes and parking before you go, as some beaches require a bit of a trek.

  • Rent a car & explore: The best way to experience Mallorca’s beaches? Your own wheels! Renting a car gives you total freedom to discover tucked-away coves, charming villages and jaw-dropping viewpoints. I recommend picking one up at the airport for a hassle-free start to your trip.

  • Hit the beach early: Want the best spot in the sand? Get there before the crowds roll in! This is especially key in peak summer (July and August) when finding space by midday feels like winning the lottery. Trust me, those early morning dips and late evening sunsets are totally worth it!

  • Pack your own beach essentials: Some of Mallorca’s most breathtaking beaches are blissfully untouched — which also means no snack shacks or convenience stores nearby. Bring plenty of water, snacks and anything else you’ll need for a full day of fun in the sun.

  • Wear the right shoes: Ditch the flimsy flip-flops! Many of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches require a little hike to reach, so sturdy footwear will make the trek a lot easier (and save your feet from sharp rocks).

  • Respect the island’s beauty: Mallorca’s beaches are spectacular, and keeping them that way is on all of us. Pack out whatever you bring, use reef-safe sunscreen and, if you see litter, why not pick it up? Let’s leave these gorgeous spots even better than we found them!
