Site Inspection: Crosby Hotel-NYC
Curator’s statement

Last week while visiting NYC, I had the pleasure of visiting the Crosby Hotel. The Crosby is located in the heart of SoHo on Crosby Street, between Prince and Spring Streets. SoHo is a vibrant, hip and fashionable area, and the hotel beautifully matched that vibe. It's considered a luxury, boutique hotel, but doesn't feel cold or pretentious. Quite the opposite, actually. As soon as you enter the hotel, you are greeted by bright, bold colors and fun, playful artwork. The owners are a husband-and-wife team, Tim and Kit Kemp. Kit is a designer, and her talent is clear in all of the unique furniture and art work throughout the hotel.

The Crosby Hotel is part of the Firmdale Hotels. In NYC, there are two hotels, The Crosby and The Whitby. There is a third hotel in the works for the Tribeca area. In London, there are five hotels and three townhouse hotels.

Rooms

The Crosby Hotel has a total of 86 rooms and suites over 11 floors, with a wide array of options for room types, including one- and two-bedroom suites. Each room contains the signature, colorful artwork and designs that Kit Kemp is known for. The rooms are bright and full of light, with large, floor-to-ceiling warehouse-style windows. I was impressed with the spectacular views from the rooms, especially on the upper floors.

The one- and two-bedroom suites were most impressive, offering an expansive space, beautiful furniture and decor and gorgeous views. However, even the smaller superior and deluxe rooms offered a good amount of space. That's not always the case with NYC hotels!

Bathrooms were impressive as well, and ranged in size depending on the room type, but all were spacious and included beautiful touches.

Guest areas

The Crosby offers quite a few relaxing guest areas throughout the hotel itself, including beautiful outdoor options. Each space is designed to make guests feel relaxed and at home.

I especially liked the Drawing Room. It was a relaxing and private space to read a book, enjoy conversation with others or just take a moment to be.

Restaurants / bars

The Crosby Bar & Terrace is another beautiful space. It serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. I ordered the burrata scramble and it was absolutely delicious. Everything on the menu looked wonderful.

While the food at the Crosby Bar & Terrace is excellent, the hotel's location makes it easy to dine at any number of wonderful restaurants in the SoHo area.

Amenities

In addition to the restaurant / bar and guest areas, the hotel also offers a fully air-conditioned gym, a state-of-the-art screening room, private dining and meeting rooms, room service between 7am-11pm and a concierge.

Each room includes complimentary WiFi, a fully stocked mini bar, a Samsung Smart TV and Blu-ray DVD player, a personal safe and a Bose Soundlink System and Tivoli Radio.

The Crosby Hotel is also a popular destination for weddings and includes several spaces to accommodate up to 125 guests for a reception or buffet dinner.
