Curator’s statement

Carnival Radiance is a solid choice for a short, fun-filled getaway of four days mid-week from Long Beach, California. It is good for first-time cruisers with stops in Catalina and Ensenada. My mother-in-law has mobility limitations, and this cabin allowed her to enjoy cruising again. The doors were wide enough for her to get into the cabin and the bathroom. The bathroom provided a roll-in shower that was a great feature.

For travelers needing an accessible cabin, Grand Suite 7288 is an excellent choice. The "fully accessible" designation means it's well-equipped for wheelchair users, providing the necessary space and features for a comfortable and stress-free stay. The added benefits of a suite, such as the extra living space and VIP services, further enhance the value of this cabin.

Key features of the cabin

  • Size: At 345 square feet with an additional 85-square-foot balcony, this stateroom is significantly larger than standard cabins, providing ample space for maneuvering a wheelchair or other mobility device. The extra room and separate sitting area are a major plus.

  • Accessibility: The cabin features a 32-inch-wide entry door and an entirely accessible bathroom, which is a major convenience. The bathroom is described as "huge" and a true "roll-in shower" with a large, fold-down bench. The lack of a lip or step into the bathroom is a crucial feature for wheelchair users.

  • Balcony: The balcony is a nice feature, but it's important to note that while a ramp provides access, the space itself is standard-sized, which can make maneuvering a wheelchair on the balcony difficult.

  • Accommodations: The Grand Suite offers a king-size bed (which can be separated into two twins), a double sofa bed, and a trundle bed, making it a good option for families or groups of up to four or five guests. The cabin also includes VIP check-in and boarding, and priority dining room assignments, which are excellent perks that enhance the cruise experience.

  • Storage: The cabin provides plenty of closet and drawer space, helping guests stay organized during their trip.
