The Retreat on Celebrity Reflection

Celebrity’s “The Retreat” offers a luxury cruising experience at a remarkably accessible price point. Guests enjoy premium amenities, including a butler, exclusive dining, a private lounge, and a dedicated pool deck—all for significantly less than the cost of a comparable luxury cruise line.

The Retreat experience

The Signature Suite was spacious, featuring two rooms, a large bathroom, ample closet space, and a generous balcony equipped with a private outdoor tub and shower—a real highlight! The suite included a butler, which proved incredibly helpful, as well as complimentary spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, and afternoon canapés. (Not to mention custom pajamas - very comfy!) Even better, the fare already covered all specialty dining and alcoholic drinks. Celebrity also contacts you before sailing to secure specialty dining reservations.

Ship amenities and crowds

The Celebrity Reflection doesn’t offer the full complement of Retreat amenities found on newer ships (like the XCel), such as a private pool deck. However, my location near the Solarium pool and the Solstice Deck made it easy to avoid the main pool crowds. Pool crowding was only a noticeable issue on the sea day.

Ports of call and service

The only time I left the ship was in Nassau for an excursion to Pearl Island. The service there was excellent, although the beach itself was quite small.

Dining and overall impression

The standout feature of the trip was the private dining venue for The Retreat, Luminae. Both the service and the food were fantastic—I would rate the quality of the cuisine in Luminae as equal to the best I’ve experienced on any cruise. The service on the Reflection, in general, was very good.

Need to know

Being a Retreat guest makes things so easy! I zipped straight to my room at 11 am on arrival and could chill in the lounge until 9 am on departure day. Luminae was even open for lunch right away. Also on this itinerary, guests can opt to visit the company’s new Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island.
