Long Weekend in Los Angeles
Curator’s statement

Los Angeles is one of the largest and most fascinating cities I’ve ever visited. Its endless freeways, multicultural vibe, and harmonious chaos make every visit unique. In our case, a long weekend was enough to feel like we were in a Hollywood movie. Even though we weren’t in a convertible, the sunset was just as beautiful from the double-decker open-top tourist bus.

Arrival & accommodation

Getting from the airport can be a bit tricky due to the designated Uber zones, so we opted for a taxi, which took about 45 minutes to downtown for roughly $60, depending on traffic.

We stayed at the majestic Biltmore Los Angeles, a classic hotel full of elegance and comfort. Despite the ghost stories surrounding it, we slept beautifully and had a very peaceful experience.

The area has plenty of hotel options, many with great benefits if booked through Fora.

Exploring Downtown

During our stay, scooters were our main way to get around, though Uber also helped for longer rides. Downtown is much easier to explore on a scooter, and cruising past the grand buildings while feeling the city’s energy is really fun.

We visited Chinatown, and in the evening, enjoyed an outdoor movie on a rooftop at the Rooftop Cinema Club. Even with a bit of chill in the air, it was an unforgettable experience.

Tourist bus & Hollywood

The next day, we hopped on the famous LA Tourist Bus, which took us to iconic areas like Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Santa Monica. Each stop felt like a movie scene: the palm trees, the perfect neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, and the more relaxed vibes of Santa Monica with skaters and surfers.

The California sunset is a show in itself. We watched it from the Santa Monica Pier, a moment that truly captures the essence of the city.

In the evening, we had dinner at The Lobster, a classic seaside restaurant, and ended the night with a walk along the Ocean Front Walk toward Venice Beach. A perfect way to say goodbye to the city.

Need to know

Where to eat

During our trip, we discovered some must-visit spots:

  • Mori Nozomi: High-level Japanese cuisine.

  • 1 Pico (Shutters on the Beach): Californian fine dining with ocean views.

  • The Lobster: Fresh seafood right on the iconic Santa Monica Pier.

  • Gwen: Gourmet meats and pastries.
