Where to stay in Amsterdam

Things to do in Amsterdam

  • Keukenhof: The world-famous tulip garden in the Netherlands. I was completely mesmerized by the endless variety of flowers. Not only was it my favorite destination of the entire trip, but the whole experience was seamless, too.

  • Canal boat rides: A must-do because this offers a unique perspective of the city’s stunning architecture and charming bridges.

  • Museum Park: It’s the cultural heart of the city. There are so many museums to see, but my favorite was the Rijksmuseum. The true highlight was discovering the stunning library.

  • Jordaan District: Known for its art galleries, trendy shops, quiet canals, and hidden courtyards. (I had the best dinner in this area.)

  • Anne Frank House: A powerful and moving experience that offers deep insight into history.

  • Vondelpark: Perfect for bike tours, a picnic with loved ones, and people-watching.

Places to eat & drink in Amsterdam

  • Gitane: A great place for a lunch date. The menu is full of small plates, and you will not be disappointed. I had the best piece of meat—I still dream about it.

  • Pesca Vis Seafood Restaurant: Such a cool concept! Before you can be seated at your table, you select the raw and cooked fish you would like to eat. After that, you pick the perfect wine selection. Then you sit and enjoy!

  • Buurtcafé De Tros: A cozy place with amazing food! It has a great atmosphere, good service, and is intimate for date night.

  • Kikkie Van de Prinsensluis: The best table next to the canal. A very casual place to have lunch or dinner. I 100 percent recommend the smash burger or the chicken schnitzel.

  • Casa Perú: A good place to try another type of cuisine in Amsterdam. All the plates were refreshing and flavorful!

  • Chun Café: Warning—if you don't like to wait in line, then this might not be the place for you. I waited for 15 minutes, but no complaints. I had a great view of the canal and my strawberry matcha was to die for.

  • Hans Egstorf Stroopwafel: This was the first store we saw after our long trip, and it was really good. My favorites were the original with raspberries and the pistachio.

Need to know

If you are going to Keukenhof, I highly recommend going before 10 am. It makes a huge difference!
