Advisor - An Island Send-Off: A Puerto Rico Bachelorette Getaway
Curator’s statement

When planning my own bachelorette party, there were a few non-negotiables beyond good company. I wanted beach time, activities that weren’t basic, and plenty of amazing food. Puerto Rico checked every box—and then some. It’s one of the most underrated destinations, and I truly had the best weekend celebrating with my girls. From the vibes to the views to the food, I can’t recommend Puerto Rico enough for your next bachelorette party or even a long weekend getaway.

Where to stay

Day 1: Welcome to San Juan

Once you arrive, check into your hotel and head straight to Old San Juan to explore the historic city and grab lunch. I recommend arriving as early as possible so you can take advantage of the full day.

Some must-do activities include visiting the historic forts perched along the cliffs, strolling iconic streets like Paseo de la Princesa and Plaza de Armas, and enjoying authentic Puerto Rican food at one of the many local spots you’ll find along the way.

For the evening, take it easy with dinner at La Santurcina for delicious pizzas and drinks. The area around the restaurant has plenty of great bars if your group is interested, but I recommend heading back to the hotel for a cozy girls’ night in—perfect for resting up before a busy second day.

Day 2: Adventure by day, clubbing by night

By day

Today starts with an early-morning trip to El Yunque Rainforest. I recommend booking a guided tour, which typically includes hotel pickup and makes the experience easy and stress-free.

  • Note that you cannot explore the rainforest without a guide, so this is the best way to do it.

The hike is moderately strenuous and very muddy—we didn’t expect to get as dirty as we did, so definitely come prepared. That said, it was absolutely worth it. Our hike ended at a natural waterslide that takes you down to a lower swimming area, which was such a fun highlight of the day. After relaxing and swimming, you’ll head back to the van for drop-off at your hotel.

By night

Once you’re back, enjoy some down time to relax and recharge before heading out for the night.

For dinner, head to Santaella for elevated modern Puerto Rican cuisine—hands down my group’s favorite meal of the trip.

The restaurant is located in La Placita, an area packed with bars and nightclubs, making it the perfect spot to continue the night out after dinner.

Day 3: Brunch, beach & Bacardí

By day

After a fun night out, a slow and relaxed morning is a must. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel or at one of the many spots right outside—honestly, you can’t go wrong.

After brunch, spend the afternoon fully embracing island life. Whether you choose the pool or the beach, settle in, cool off with a swim, and enjoy some much-needed downtime with your girls. It’s the ultimate way to recharge and make the most of your final full day in paradise.

By night

Before dinner, I recommend visiting the Bacardí Factory and choosing one of their tours or experiences. My group did the bartending class, which included complimentary drinks, a distillery tour, and an hour-long bartending session where you learn to make Bacardí’s signature cocktails (and, of course, drink them).

Afterward, head back to the San Juan area for dinner and drinks. Enjoy dinner at The Cannon Club, which is within walking distance of La Factoría and La Grieta—perfect spots to continue the night with cocktails and dancing.

Need to know

If your group isn’t into the El Yunque experience, I highly recommend chartering a boat with a captain and crew instead. Bring snacks and food onboard and spend the day enjoying the water—it’s a fun, relaxing alternative that still feels special and memorable.

A few helpful things to know

  • If you’re flying to Puerto Rico from the US, you don’t need a passport.

  • Most US cell phone plans also work in Puerto Rico, so there’s no need to worry about international roaming charges.

  • Getting around is easy—Ubers and Lyfts are widely available and convenient, so there’s no need to plan transportation in advance.
