Funchal is Madeira's capital city. Stroll along the Atlantic, check out the cathedral and stop in the many shops where you can find local artistry items. Make sure to go to Blandy's Wine Lodge for a tour and tasting of Madeira wine!
For the best views, take the cable car up to Monte. There, take in the view, walk the levadas and visit the famous gardens.
Spend a day touring the island with a guide. Make sure to stop in Santana to see the traditional houses!
Have a guide take you to various wine regions of the island. You'll see beautiful views and drink delicious wine!
Enjoy an evening cruise on a boat for amazing views and a chance to spot some wildlife.
If you are feeling more adventurous, the deep sea fishing in Madeira is fantastic.
There are seemingly endless hikes on this island. The most famous is Pico de Arriero. If you're feeling less active, you can also take a 4x4 trip to the top.
Eat & drink
Ristorante Villa Cipriani: Part of the Belmond Hotel, this restaurant is a fantastic location for delicious Italian food, with one of the most stunning views I have seen at a restaurant. Tip: make sure to sit on the patio.
William Restaurant: The Michelin-starred restaurant located in the Belmond Hotel. Consistently top rated, the views are incredible.
Afternoon tea: Even if you are not staying at the Belmond, make sure to reserve afternoon tea. Take in the views sitting on the hotel's storied patio, and enjoy delicious tea and bites. You don't want to miss it!
