Day 1: Blenheim Palace

For many travelers, you'll be making your way from London to the Cotswolds either via your own car or a hired driver. Along the route, your first stop should be Blenheim Palace, a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site. Prepare to be captivated by its grandeur, immerse yourself in the beauty of its stunning gardens and discover the historical significance of this iconic palace as the birthplace of none other than Sir Winston Churchill. Clementine's on the Lawn is a gorgeous setting to enjoy lunch before continuing on your journey to check into your hotel. It's best to book tickets on their website in advance and reservations are a must for Clementine's.

Day 2: Broadway

Start your day by journeying to Broadway, which boasts one of the region's most stylish high streets, adorned with art galleries and interesting interior shops. Its allure dates back to the Victorian era when renowned artists like William Morris and John Singer Sargent found inspiration here. Be sure to spend an hour or two wandering the wisteria-draped streets before purchasing a picnic lunch at The Broadway Deli.

After lunch, visit the Broadway Tower for breath-taking views over the entire region where you can see for 16 counties on a clear day. There are several scenic walks that depart from the Broadway Tower area along the Cotswold Way.

If you remain in Broadway for dinner, The Broadbean has excellent wine and tapas or visit The Back Garden restaurant at Dormy House Hotel & Spa.

Day 3: Snowshill

Start your morning by heading to Snowshill, another charming village set within the Cotswold hills. It is known for its beauty and amazing views over the Severn Vale to the west. Wander the small village and do a quick visit through Snowshill Manor and Garden (book in advance).

From there, continue to Sudeley Castle and Gardens. It's worth the money and pre-booking to take the exclusive private tours, where you will experience a personalized tour for 90 minutes throughout the grounds and castle rooms. For art fans, there is a weekday tour of the family's private collection that is not usually open to the public (pre-booking is required, no children under 12).

Day 4: Chedworth Village

Start your day with a morning hike, either one of the trails at Broadway that you didn't try earlier or drive to Chedworth village where you can follow the Monarch's Way north to Chedworth Villa.

From there, this is your day to sample some of the local food and wine treats of the region. Visit Stow-on-the-Wold to sample cheese at The Cotswold Cheese Co (also visit St. Edward's Church, one of the prettiest in the area). Next head to Little Oak Vineyard to sample their white and sparkling wines (book your tasting in advance, you have the option to add lunch as well).

Day 5 - 6: Bath & Stonehenge

While you could spend more time exploring the Cotswold villages, for many it's time to return to London or continue to your next UK destination. Adding 2 days to visit Bath and Stonehenge is a must if you have the time.
