Things to do in Florida

Wave Cutter Charters: Hop aboard for a private dolphin tour or catch the Blue Angels soaring during practice—this local favorite offers unforgettable views from the water.

National Naval Aviation Museum: One of the largest aviation museums in the world and completely free. Interactive exhibits and historic aircraft make it fun for the whole family.

Glow Paddle: Glide through the Sound in a clear kayak lit from below—it’s calm, colorful, and the perfect after-dark adventure.

Deep-sea fishing – Entertainer or Hot Spots Charters: Chase big fish in deep waters with local crews who know exactly where to go. It’s the thrill of the reel, plus a cooler full of dinner.

Pensacola Yacht Charters: Want to live out your yacht life dreams? These private charters are perfect for celebrating a special occasion or simply sailing into the sunset.

Lazy Days Beach Rentals: Let the pros handle the heavy lifting. Your chairs and umbrella will be set up in the perfect spot—so you can go straight from the car to chill.

Cruisin’ Tikis Pensacola Beach: Bring your drinks and your crew and rent a floating tiki bar. Great music, great views, and seriously fun vibes.

Explore Fort Pickens: Wander the historic brick fort and scenic trails at the western tip of the island. It’s peaceful, photogenic, and steeped in history.

Sunset at Shaka Bar: Grab a cold drink, find a spot on the deck, and watch the sun melt into the horizon. It’s a local tradition you’ll want to make your own.

Jet ski rentals at Key Sailing: For thrill-seekers, renting a jet ski is a must. Zoom across the bay or cruise along the coastline with views that make your heart race.

Visit Baby Beach: Need a break from the Gulf’s waves? This hidden gem in the Sound is calm, shallow, and perfect for younger kids (or just a peaceful float).

Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier: Stretching 1,471 feet into the Gulf, the Pensacola Beach Pier offers some of the best views—and best fishing—on the island. Walk out to spot sea turtles, dolphins, or reel in a catch without ever stepping on a boat. It’s perfect for early morning calm or sunset strolls with a salty breeze.

Places to eat & drink in Florida

Platter from Crabs

Paradise Bar & Grill: A true local favorite with a laid-back vibe, live music, and toes-in-the-sand dining. Grab a bushwacker and enjoy paradise with a view of the Sound.

Casino Beach Bar & Grille: Bright, breezy, and right on the beach—this spot nails the vacation mood with tropical cocktails, fresh seafood, and front-row seats to the Gulf.

Peg Leg Pete’s: A Pensacola Beach institution. Oysters, grouper sandwiches, and a pirate-approved atmosphere—get there early or expect a wait (worth it).

Flounder’s Chowder House: Known for its massive portions and iconic chowder, this place also has a lively bar scene, a sandy play area for kids, and unbeatable beachfront views.

The Reef: Tucked off the main drag, The Reef is your go-to for a relaxed lunch, casual drinks, and good company. Bonus: local specials and chill vibes.

Sidelines Sports Bar: Craving wings and wall-to-wall TVs? Sidelines is a great spot to catch the game, hang with locals, and enjoy comfort food done right.

Crabs on the Beach: Come for the beachside views, stay for the buckets of crab legs and strong tropical drinks. A fun, family-friendly spot with big personality.

Shaka Bar: Come for the sunset, stay for the regulars. A no-frills, all-vibes watering hole—unless LP is cooking up something special, then you don’t leave.

Red Fish Blue Fish: Hands down the best happy hour on the island. Local tip: call the coin toss right and your drink is free. Great food, playful setting, and unbeatable views.

Need to know

  • Parking can fill up fast—especially on weekends and holidays. Arrive early or use the free trolley (Memorial Day to Labor Day) to avoid the hassle. Many lots are paid, so download the Passport Parking app ahead of time.

  • Baby Beach on the Sound side is perfect for families with littles or anyone who prefers calm, shallow water over the Gulf’s waves.

  • Watch the Blue Angels practice from the water with a boat tour—or check the Naval Aviation Museum’s schedule to catch a free airshow from shore.

  • Sunsets on the Sound are just as magical (and less crowded) than Gulf-side views. Grab a drink at Paradise or Shaka and enjoy the show.

  • Alcohol is allowed on the beach in non-glass containers, but be smart—law enforcement is present, especially during peak seasons.

  • Don’t forget sunscreen and bug spray. Sand gnats can be a surprise, especially at dusk.

  • Support local! There are tons of great spots not listed on TripAdvisor—just ask a local (or me!) and you’ll find hidden gems in no time.

  • Looking for quiet? Head toward the National Seashore past Portofino for wide-open beaches and fewer crowds. Bring snacks—there’s nothing out there but beauty.
