Curator’s statement
This destination was special because it was my first trip to the continent of Africa! It was also where I celebrated my 40th birthday, and I was able to go on a safari.

Things to do in Cape Town

Take a boat trip on the harbor (especially at sunset). There is a gorgeous view of the mountains, and you can enjoy the vibrant orange and red colors of the sunset.
Visit Camps Bay Beach. The beach is beautiful and serene, and you can people-watch or just relax.
Take a walking tour of downtown Cape Town and learn the history of the city and visit the courthouse and the Nelson Mandela statue.
Visit the V&A Waterfront mall (of course). There are a plethora of stores and restaurants, sure to fit any budget and appetite.
One of my favorite things to do anywhere is to visit an art museum. I visited the MOCAA art museum to see intriguing local art!
I also recommend going on a safari. There are game reserves outside of Cape Town that have acres of land for the animals to roam, and they use no harmful tactics to capture or restrain the animals.
Places to eat & drink in Cape Town

My meal at Bootlegger in Cape Town
Mama Africa Lounge is one of my favorite places to eat and drink. The vibes and music were off the chain!
The Conscious Kitchen was another favorite place of mine to eat. They have vegetarian- and vegan-friendly options, fresh squeezed juices, and delicious lattes, all for reasonable prices!
The Ocular Lounge in Zeitz MOCAA has fabulous views and food. I had a delicious salad with balsamic vinegar dressing while overlooking Table Mountain.
Another favorite restaurant is Bootlegger Coffee Company. I ate here before my sunset boat ride and had delicious cauliflower, kale, potatoes, and other veggies while enjoying a view of the harbor.
I stayed in Century City, so of course I dined at Tiger’s Milk. There was an abundance of chic people, and the menu has a variety of items to choose from and a bar where you can chill with friends or a date.
Need to know
I recommend purchasing a ticket for the hop-on hop-off bus tour for two days. The bus takes you to all the tourist attractions (where there may be additional entrance fees), or you can just ride around and soak up the views (and the sun).
