Advisor - How to Enjoy Cefalù, Sicily in the Summer: A 5-Day Itinerary
Curator’s statement

For the past four years, my family and I have been visiting this perfect little beach town—and we’ve fallen so deeply in love with it that we actually bought our own apartment here. Cefalù has everything we dream of in a getaway: golden beaches, charming streets, incredible Sicilian food, and a pace of life that makes you slow down and soak it all in. I’m excited to share what makes this town so special, and why it’s become our home away from home.

Day 1: Beach club & sunset dinner

Watching the sunset while eating dinner

Start your morning at one of the beach clubs, soaking up the sun and swimming in the crystal-clear water. Then, as the day winds down, sip on an aperitivo and enjoy dinner while watching the sun melt into the horizon. There’s nothing quite like it—simple, beautiful, and unforgettable.

Day 2: Shopping

Handmade shoes at Il Sandalo Caprese

After the beach, take time to explore Cefalù’s winding streets and little shops. You’ll find everything from handmade ceramics to specialty food products—perfect souvenirs with a story.

Local tip: There’s a tiny workshop in town where you can have custom leather sandals made in under an hour. Watching them craft something just for you is part of the magic—and you’ll walk away with the ultimate Cefalù keepsake.

Day 3: Castelbuono

If you’re ready to venture beyond the beach, head inland to the charming medieval town of Castelbuono. Stroll its cobblestone streets, take in the castle views, and then settle in for lunch at Nangalarruni—a cozy spot famous for growing their own mushrooms. The dishes here are earthy and unforgettable, and the wine list is just as impressive. A perfect little escape from the coast.

Day 4: Hotel Le Calette Beach Club

For a more indulgent day, spend the morning at the Hotel Le Calette Beach Club, where luxury meets the sea. Lounge by the water, order a fresh lunch right from your seat, and soak in the views. Before you leave, be sure to reserve a spot for aperitivo and appetizers—it’s the perfect way to end a sun-soaked afternoon in style.

Day 5: Boat cruise

Spend your last day on the water with our friend Giovanni and his boat. Cruise along Cefalù’s stunning coastline, dive in to snorkel in the crystal-clear sea, and sip on refreshing spritzes as you soak up the sun. It’s the most magical way to say goodbye to this little slice of paradise.

Need to know

Getting around

  • Rent a small car: Cefalù’s charming streets are narrow, parking can be tight, and the surrounding mountain roads are winding. A compact car makes life much easier—make sure and add the insurance to your rental car!

Weather & walking

  • Prepare for heat: Summers are hot, and much of your time will be outdoors. Bring a hat, light clothing, and always carry water.

  • Do plenty of walking: The town is best experienced on foot, from the cathedral square to the little side streets. Comfortable shoes are a must.

Dining

  • Make dinner reservations: Restaurants fill up quickly, especially in high season. Book ahead if there’s a place you really want to try.

Drinks & nightlife

  • Neo Mediterranean Bar: A perfect spot for a pre-dinner cocktail or a nightcap. Order a spritz and enjoy the view. Don’t forget to say hi to Jalel, the friendly face behind the bar who makes everyone feel like a local.
