Day 1: Arrive, settle in & celebrate

One of the most magical things about Mayakoba is the way you move through it. You can walk or bike the jungle paths (expect butterflies and coatis along the way), or better yet, hop on one of the electric boats that cruise the mangrove canals. Heading to dinner by boat with a glass of wine in hand never gets old.

To help understand the layout—Mayakoba is home to four distinct resorts, all connected by winding canals, biking trails, and nature paths. You can’t go wrong—but for serious pampering, Rosewood is the crown jewel of Mayakoba. With its private overwater suites, rooftop terraces, personal butler service, and a spa set on its own island, this resort is luxury at its finest. Everything from the service to the design is thoughtful and elevated. It’s the top choice for groups wanting to celebrate in style and indulge in true five-star comfort.

There are lots of options for an active getaway as well, such as kayaking, golfing, pickleball, paddleboarding, and other watercraft activities. It’s a perfect setting for a celebration or just for spending some quality time.

On your first day, arrive at your chosen resort and settle into your suite or villa. Take a welcome drink to-go and explore by bike or boat—every resort is connected through jungle trails and winding waterways with hidden gems throughout.

Head to La Isla Secreta, Rosewood’s private speakeasy only accessible by boat. This candlelit hideaway is the perfect way to kick off the trip in style, with mezcal cocktails, boho lounge seating, and a magical jungle backdrop.

Day 2: Spa, tequila & Thai

Start the day at SENSE Spa at Rosewood for a signature Mayan healing ritual, followed by time sipping fruit infused waters in the private relaxation pool. After lunch, enjoy a tequila tasting or cooking class at Fairmont or Rosewood. Expect plenty of laughs, local flavors, and a few new recipes to take home.

Head to Zapote Bar at Rosewood for pre-dinner cocktails. It’s a stylish open-air bar with mezcal-forward drinks and an inviting, energetic vibe. If you go back later in the evening, the live music is amazing—and the place really gets pumping.

For dinner, arrange for one of the Duffy boats to take you to the Banyan Tree and dine at Saffron, Banyan Tree’s elevated Thai restaurant. Be sure to request an outdoor table overlooking the water for an unforgettable setting under the stars

Day 3: Jungle adventures & rooftop toasts

After breakfast, book a cenote excursion—I can arrange a private driver and tour. There are several stunning cenotes nearby where you can swim, float, and take in the serene beauty of these freshwater sinkholes.

Return for an afternoon sipping cocktails by the pool or a treatment at Banyan Tree’s Rainforest Experience Spa or the Fairmont Spa and Wellness Center—another chance to indulge in a new spa setting. End the evening at Cielo Rooftop Bar at the Fairmont. Grab a round of cocktails, watch the sun dip over the mangroves, then head down to Gaia Seafood for dinner.

Day 4: Final indulgences

Sleep in and savor your last breakfast—maybe even from your terrace. Take a final boat ride, lounge by the pool or beach, go for a kayak and soak it all in before heading home feeling completely recharged and reconnected.

For your farewell dinner, head to La Ceiba Garden & Kitchen at Rosewood. This open-air experience is centered around an 18-seat communal table and wood-fired oven surrounded by lush gardens. It’s an unforgettable way to end the trip.

Need to know

If you’re looking for a trip that blends spa days with secret bars, tacos, tequila tastings, jungle paths, and barefoot beach moments—Mayakoba checks every box for the ultimate luxe girls’ getaway.

Travel advisor tips to elevate the experience:

  • Make reservations in advance. Restaurants, spa treatments, and private experiences book up in advance.

  • Mix resorts: No matter which resort you choose, guests have access to the dining and spa experiences at all Mayakoba properties. That means you can hop between restaurants and even visit a different spa each day if you’re truly committed to the pampered life (and why not?)

  • If you’re interested in getting on the water, I can book a boat charter to nearby snorkeling spots for a fun day trip.
