Things to do in Ojai

The lawn at Ojai Valley Inn is one of the most peaceful spots to pause and take it all in.
Stay at (or visit) Ojai Valley Inn
Even if you’re not staying here, it’s worth visiting for a cocktail on the lawn or a stroll around the beautiful property. Total relaxation vibes.
Old Creek Ranch & Winery
A peaceful winery just outside of town with stunning views and delicious wines—perfect for a laid-back afternoon.
Eat at The Dutchess & Rory’s Place
Two of my go-to spots for incredible food in Ojai. The Dutchess blends baked goods and Burmese-Californian flavors, and Rory’s Place nails fresh, seasonal plates. There are so many great dining options in town!
Hike the local trails
Ojai has plenty of accessible trails. Shelf Road is a favorite for easy views, or head a little farther out for more challenging hikes.
Go fishing with Ojai Angler
A unique and peaceful way to spend a morning. I surprised my partner with this, and even as a non-fisher, I loved it.
Stroll the town & shop local
Wander the charming downtown area. Don’t miss Bart’s Books (a famous outdoor bookstore!) and Fig Curated Living for home and gift finds.
Unplug & relax
Whether it’s lounging by the pool or reading on a shaded patio, Ojai is made for doing nothing beautifully.
Places to eat & drink in Ojai

The Dutchess
A beloved all-day spot blending Burmese and Californian flavors. Start your day with incredible pastries and coffee, or come for dinner and try the tea-leaf salad, pork curry, or passionfruit lassi.
Rory’s Place
A sister-owned gem focusing on ocean-to-table fare. Expect oysters, crudo, seasonal vegetables, and natural wines—all served in a stylish, welcoming space.
Ojai Rôtie
A casual French-Lebanese spot known for its rotisserie chicken, house-made flatbreads, and vibrant salads. The outdoor patio is perfect for a laid-back lunch.
Pinyon Ojai
Great for wood-fired pizza, sourdough hoagies, and a curated list of natural wines. It’s a favorite among locals for a reason—simple, fresh, and flavorful.
Old Creek Ranch Winery
Just outside town, this winery offers a peaceful tasting experience with expansive views. It’s a great place to unwind for an afternoon glass or flight.
Topa Topa Brewing Co.
A relaxed, dog-friendly spot to enjoy locally brewed beers and sunshine. Order a flight and post up on the patio for the afternoon.
Need to know
Ojai is all about slowing down—don’t overschedule yourself. Shops and restaurants tend to close early, so plan for relaxed mornings and early dinners. Weekends can get busy, especially during peak seasons, so make reservations where you can (especially for dinner). Many places are walkable, but having a car makes it easier to explore nearby wineries, hiking trails, and hidden gems just outside town. And if you can swing a weekday visit, you’ll get to experience a quieter, more peaceful side of Ojai.
