Things to do in Cannes, France

Views from the Sentier du Littoral hike in Antibes

Beach clubs—Mademoiselle Gray Plage Barrière

Set along the Croisette, Mademoiselle Gray blends Riviera elegance with laid-back luxury, making it the perfect place to spend a sun-soaked afternoon. Reserve a lounger, linger over rosé and Mediterranean dishes, and let the day unfold at a slower pace.

Boat day—explore the Côte d’Azur by sea

A private boat day is one of the best ways to experience the Riviera, whether you’re cruising along the coastline or anchoring near the Lérins Islands for a swim. Your hotel concierge or travel advisor can arrange a seamless charter tailored to your pace and preferences.

Antibes scenic hike—Sentier du Littoral

This coastal trail offers breathtaking views of turquoise water, rocky cliffs, and hidden coves just outside of Cannes. It’s an ideal half-day escape for travelers who want to balance Riviera glamour with fresh air and natural beauty.

Grasse perfume experience—the world’s fragrance capital

Just a 26-minute train ride from Cannes, Grasse invites you into the heart of French perfumery. Visit iconic fragrance houses like Fragonard or Galimard to learn the art of scent-making—and even create a custom perfume to take home.

Shopping—La Croisette and luxury boutiques

Cannes is synonymous with luxury shopping, from iconic fashion houses along La Croisette to smaller boutiques tucked into side streets. Travelers visiting from the US should be sure to take advantage of France’s VAT tax refund for a little extra incentive to indulge.

Places to eat & drink in Cannes, France

Views at Marea Rooftop Restaurant

  • La Guérite ($$$$): A true Cannes institution, La Guérite sits on Île Sainte-Marguerite and seamlessly transforms from a long, indulgent lunch into a lively afternoon dance party. Guests meet at Port Pierre Canto before being transferred by boat, and a 3 pm reservation is ideal if you want to stay as the music picks up and the tables turn into dance floors.

  • Le Caveau 30 ($$): This cozy, traditional French bistro is beloved for its warm atmosphere and classic dishes done well. The outdoor terrace is especially charming in the evening, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed yet authentic dinner.

  • Cheer Mamma ($$): A family-owned Italian gem overlooking the marina, Cheer Mamma feels intimate, welcoming, and effortlessly charming. The homemade pasta—especially the spaghetti carbonara—is a standout, best enjoyed at one of the outdoor tables with harbor views.

  • Marea ($$$): Perched atop the Canopy by Hilton, Marea offers rooftop Mediterranean dining paired with sweeping views over Cannes. It’s an excellent choice for sunset cocktails that transition into a stylish dinner with a modern Riviera feel.

  • La Môme ($$$$): Chic and energetic, La Môme is known for elevated Mediterranean cuisine and an atmosphere that becomes increasingly lively as the night unfolds. This is the place to go when you want great food paired with a glamorous, high-energy evening.

Need to know

The closest airport is Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE). From the airport, you can take a 25-minute taxi or Uber (yes, they have Ubers—yay!) or you can take the train. For the train, you get on at the Nice Saint-Augustin train station, which is just a few minutes’ walk from Terminal 1. In just around 30 minutes, you will arrive at the Cannes station! The train ride offers some beautiful views, but I do not recommend it if you have a lot of large luggage with you.
