Curator’s statement
I went to Aruba solo at 35, unsure of what I was really searching for—I just knew I needed a break from performing, pleasing, and pretending everything was fine. Aruba offered exactly what I didn’t know I needed: warmth, safety, and space to just be. It wasn’t about ultra-luxury—it was about ease, and that turned out to be the most luxurious thing of all.

Things to do in Aruba

De Palm Island Tour with cliff jumping: Book a full-day or half-day tour to get the lay of the land. You’ll visit historic sites, wild coastal cliffs, and if you’re brave—jump off a ledge and into your next chapter.
Snorkel cruise: Crystal-clear water, vibrant reef life, and a shipwreck? Yes, please. The crew was kind and attentive, especially once they knew I was traveling solo. Great service and even better views (above and below water).
Kukoo Kunuku Party Bus: A colorful, music-filled party on wheels. From beach bars to backyard rum shacks, this is one big island adventure. The guides were fun and looked out for me as a solo traveler. Just don’t schedule your snorkel cruise the next morning.
Hilton eforea Spa: This is how I close every solo trip—and Aruba was no different. I booked a massage and pedi before heading home. It was quiet, clean, and felt like a gift to myself.
Balcony book time and doing nothing: Room service, ocean air, and zero plans. I soaked in a bath, read a little, stared at the waves, and let my nervous system breathe. Sometimes, doing nothing is the most healing thing of all.
(All booked through the Hilton concierge.)
Places to eat & drink in Aruba

Hilton Pool Bar: Low-effort, high reward. Tasty snacks, tropical drinks, and the perfect midday solo lunch vibe.
Room service (No, really.): My favorite meal on this trip? Steak, wine, and dessert—delivered to my room while I wore a robe and stared at the ocean.
Marriott’s Sports Bar: Just a short walk away if you want a quieter night out. I watched the Stanley Cup Playoffs here with a drink and didn’t speak to anyone. It was perfect.
Local beach bars (Ask your guide!): Some of the best drinks I had came from places that weren’t on a map—literal backyard bars with locals playing music and dancing in the sand. Ask your tour guide or party bus crew for the secret spots.
MooMba Beach Bar: Lively beachfront staple—ideal for solo travelers who want a social vibe with a soft landing. Live music, friendly staff, and lots of sunset energy.
Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill: Right over the water at De Palm Pier. Karaoke, loaded fries, and a Caribbean cocktail list that doesn’t miss.
Pelican Nest Bar & Grill: A laid-back but lively pier spot with seafood and colorful drinks. Come for the views, stay for the people-watching.
The Old Cunucu House: Charming, historic, and authentic—this is the place for a deep dive into Aruban cuisine. Go early and stay for the live music.
Flying Fishbone: Table in the sand, toes in the water, and seafood that rivals anywhere else in the Caribbean. Romantic even if you’re there solo.
Papiamento Restaurant: Elegant, historic, and museum-like—ideal for a more upscale night. Book ahead and enjoy the wine cellar vibes.
