Advisor - The Perfect Couples Getaway to Marco Island, Florida
Curator’s statement

Marco Island is one of those destinations that feels peaceful and relaxing from the moment you arrive. I love the slower pace, beautiful white sand beaches, incredible sunsets, gorgeous seashells, and the mix of laid-back coastal charm with amazing dining and resort options. It’s such a great destination for couples looking to truly unwind, reconnect, and enjoy simple moments together—whether that’s boating, beach walks, seafood dinners, shell collecting, or watching the sunset over the Gulf. For me, it’s the perfect easy Florida escape that still feels special and elevated.

Things to do on Marco Island

Sailing into sunset on board the Cool Beans Cruises catamaran

Spend the day at Tigertail Beach

One of the most beautiful beaches on Marco Island and one of my favorite places for shell collecting, long walks, and spotting birds and wildlife.

Go shelling on the beach

Marco Island is known for its beautiful seashells, and honestly one of the simplest but best activities is just walking the shoreline searching for shells together.

Take the sunset dinner cruise on the Marco Island Princess

One of the most relaxing and romantic experiences on Marco Island. You get beautiful sunset views, dinner on the water, and a chance to spot dolphins while cruising through the waterways.

Sail on the Cool Beans Cruises catamaran

One of the best ways to enjoy the Gulf views and sunsets. It’s such a relaxing couples activity and a great way to experience the water around Marco Island.

Take a dolphin tour

Dolphin tours are one of the most popular activities around Marco Island and such a fun way to get out on the water while spotting wildlife and enjoying the scenery.

Visit nearby Naples for dinner or shopping

Naples is an easy drive from Marco Island and perfect for a date night, upscale dining, shopping, or strolling around Fifth Avenue South.

Explore the Everglades

Marco Island is close to the Everglades, making it easy to add an airboat ride, wildlife tour, or nature excursion for something a little different.

Visit the Marco Island Farmers Market

One of my favorite slower-paced morning activities. It’s a great place to grab coffee, local food, and fresh produce, and to browse local vendors while enjoying the coastal atmosphere.

Enjoy fresh seafood and waterfront dining

Marco Island has so many great waterfront restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood, sunset views, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere.

Dolphin Tiki Bar & Grill

One of my favorite casual waterfront spots on Marco Island. The ahi tuna stack and crab stack are both so good, and it’s such a fun place to sit outside by the water.

The SpeakEasy of Marco Island

A really fun cocktail spot right on the water with a cozy atmosphere and creative drinks. Perfect for a relaxed evening out.

Snook Inn

A Marco Island staple with waterfront views, live music, and a really fun, laid-back atmosphere. It’s one of my favorite places to grab seafood and enjoy the island vibe.

Sunset Grille

One of the best spots to sit outside for sunset views over the beach. Great casual atmosphere for drinks, seafood, and watching the sunset.

Stan's Idle Hour

A longtime local favorite just outside Marco Island that’s especially popular on Sundays for live music and a fun laid-back Old Florida atmosphere.

CJ's on the Bay

Located at the Esplanade, this is such a great spot for waterfront dining, cocktails, and sunset views.

The Oyster Society

One of the best date-night restaurants on the island with amazing seafood, cocktails, and a more upscale coastal atmosphere.

Doreen's Cup of Joe

One of the best breakfast spots on the island and always busy for a reason. Perfect for coffee and breakfast before heading to the beach.

Sami's Pizza & Grill

One of our favorite casual dinner spots after a beach day. Great pizza and easy for families or relaxed nights in.

Need to know

The island is very easy to navigate and has a much quieter, more laid-back feel compared to some other Florida beach destinations.

Many travelers fly into Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, which is about a 1–1.5-hour drive from Marco Island. Renting a car is recommended if you plan to explore Naples or nearby areas.

Winter and spring are the most popular times to visit thanks to warm sunny weather, while summer tends to be hotter and more humid, with more common afternoon rain showers. The free “Marco Island” app can actually be really helpful while visiting for maps, beach information, dining, events, and local recommendations.
