Things to do in port

Canoeing on Mendenhall Lake with view of glacier
Mendenhall Glacier: I recommend canoeing to see the glacier with a small group. It was a fun and adventurous way to see the glacier and wildlife up close. Try Liquid Alaska Tour Company for an authentic experience!
White Pass Railroad in Skagway: This railway was built during the Klondike Gold Rush in 1898. It offers scenic train rides through stunning mountain landscapes. You’re able to see glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, and historic landmarks. There’s a narrated tour highlighting the railroad as you ride along.
Glacier Bay National Park: Upgrade to the verandah room, so you’re able to truly take in the beauty of Glacier Bay. Holland cruise ships will turn 360 degrees so everyone on the ship can see the highlights from the comfort of their own room. They also have the National Park Service on board narrating the scenery. It is truly jaw-dropping and a must-see!
Saxman Totem Park: Definitely make a quick stop here to learn the history of totem poles and see some amazing examples. This park is located in Ketchikan, fairly close to the cruise port.
Shopping at Creek Street in downtown Ketchikan: If you’re looking to sample salmon and see the iconic colorful shops located on a wooden boardwalk, definitely stop here. Be sure to try the salmon jerky. This area was once a red-light district!
The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show: An entertaining show in downtown Ketchikan that features lumberjacks and the history of logging. Very entertaining and only one hour if you’re looking for something fun and fast!
Orange Party on the Holland America cruise ship: A fun night celebrating the Dutch heritage of Holland America. Everyone is encouraged to dress in orange and there is live music and chocolates!
Places to eat & drink in port

Seafood tower at Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel
Deckhand Dave’s: Located in Juneau’s food truck area. Try the spicy fish taco trio, which features salmon, rockfish, and halibut!
Tracy’s King Crab Shack: A local favorite that showcases crab being cooked in boiling pots as you walk up the restaurant. Fun atmosphere inside with long tables that people share. They announce your order with your name and where you’re from—so fun!
Skagway Brewing Company: Try the beer flight and the fish and chips. Definitely get in line early as this place fills up fast!
Rudi’s on Holland America cruise ship: Mediterranean restaurant that I highly recommend visiting. You’ll need to upgrade to specialty dining for this one but definitely worth it. The escargot is delicious!
Glacial Coffeehouse: Located in Skagway, this coffee shop has lots of unique drinks and flavors. I had the caramel butterscotch latte and it was to die for!
Fairmont Vancouver Airport: Try the seafood tower and champagne with live music at 5:00 pm every night. Best seafood I’ve ever had!
