Reykjavík is an incredibly accessible city—easy to explore on foot, with convenient hop-on-hop-off buses and plenty of taxis available. If you’re looking for a destination with amazing food and drink, and a unique cultural experience, this is the perfect place for you. Things to do in Reykjavík
Blue Lagoon
Blue Lagoon: A must-do Iceland experience! Best to do on arrival or departure from Keflavík International Airport (KEF).
Sky Lagoon: Super close to downtown Reykjavík (about 20 mins). The 7-step ritual is a must-do!
Lava Show: This is an awesome experience to see real lava. The VIP experience includes your own section (you do not have to wear protective eyewear), a free drink, access to a bar, and a backstage tour!
Rainbow Road & Hallgrímskirkja: Rainbow Road gives you the perfect view of the most famous church in Reykjavík, which is open to the public.
Perlan Museum: This is a great idea for an indoor activity just outside of downtown Reykjavík (about 15 mins). The ice cave is the real deal and awesome for photos!
Places to eat & drink in Reykjavík
A must try in Iceland—their Icelandic hot dogs!
Reykjavík street food: Amazing street food options. These include seafood soup, classic Icelandic fish stew, and traditional Icelandic meat soup.
Hot Dog House: The best Icelandic hot dogs around! If you are in the mood to try these out, this is the place.
Laundromat Cafe: Food and drink are awesome here, and YES, there is a laundromat downstairs.
Brauð & Co.: Such a cute bakery with the most colorful building, they are most known for their cinnamon rolls.
Lebowski Bar: Based on the movie with all different types of white Russian drinks!
Hús máls og menningar: An old library-themed bar with live music and full bar.
Kaffibarinn: A good dive bar option with great beers.
Einstök Bar: A local brewery with an upscale vibe.
Need to know
Depending on the season of travel, I definitely recommend taking a Northern Lights tour. Iceland is an expensive destination, but almost everywhere offers happy hours!
