Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Maria to book your trip.

Day 1: Arrive in Kotor Bay

Arrive in Tivat and pick up your rental car at the airport (highly recommended for the whole trip). Check in at Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort. Afternoon at leisure for the beach or a quick visit to Kotor Old Town and part of the city walls. Dinner at Galion, the go-to spot for fresh seafood right on the water.

Tip: Book at sunset for the best bay views.

Day 2: Kotor & Perast

Morning visit to Kotor Old Townwalk the narrow streets, stop at St. Tryphon Cathedral, and climb part of the fortress walls for panoramic views. Late morning, take a boat trip on the bay with stops at Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks island. Lunch by the water in Perast (try Conte Restaurant for a great setting and seafood). Return to the hotel for an easy afternoon by the beach or spa.

Tip: Wear comfortable shoes for the fortress climbthe stones can be slippery.

Day 3: Nature & Lovćen National Park

Drive up to Lovćen National Park (about one hr) for hiking trails and views over the entire Bay of Kotor. Visit the Njegoš Mausoleum, reached by 461 steps but absolutely worth it for the panorama. Picnic lunch or stop at a traditional konoba (local tavern) for Montenegrin specialties like lamb or prosciutto. Return to the hotel mid-afternoon to relax by the water.

Tip: Bring a light jacket—it’s noticeably cooler at the top than by the coast.

Day 4: Transfer to Portonovi

One&Only Portonovi

Check out of Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay and drive toward One&Only Portonovi (about 45 min). On the way, stop in Herceg Novi to stroll the old town squares and fortress. Arrive at Portonovi for check-in and spend the afternoon enjoying the resort’s pools, beach, and gardens. Dinner at Tapasake Club, the hotel’s lively Asian-fusion spot right on the marina.

Tip: Herceg Novi is very hilly—wear comfortable shoes if you plan to walk around.

Day 5-6: Relax & bay experiences

Two full days to enjoy One&Only Portonovi: mornings at the Chenot Espace Spa for treatments or fitness, afternoons by the pools or private beach. Dedicate one day to a private boat trip around the bay with a stop at the Blue Cave and small hidden coves for swimming.

The other day can be slower: yoga, tennis, or just enjoying the marina vibe. Dinner options inside the resort: Sabia by Giorgio Locatelli for Italian or a more casual night at the beach club.

Tips: Book the boat early in the morning to beat the crowds at the Blue Cave, and reserve spa slots before arrival as they fill up fast.

Day 7: Departure

Easy morning at One&Only Portonovi—breakfast on the terrace and a last swim or walk around the marina. Check out and drive back to Tivat (or Podgorica) airport.

Tip: Allow extra time for traffic on coastal roads, especially in summer.

Need to know

  • Driving is slow on winding coastal and mountain roads—allow extra time.

  • Parking in Kotor Old Town is limited; best to park just outside the walls.

  • Summer is hot and crowded; late spring or early fall is more comfortable

  • Euros are the official currency; most places take cards, but carry some cash.

  • Must-do experiences:

    • Sunset dinner at Galion in Kotor

    • Private boat trip to the Blue Cave

    • Boutique shopping at Porto Montenegro in Tivat

    • Traditional lunch at a local konoba with wine and prosciutto

Insider tip: Book waterfront restaurants and spa treatments well in advance, especially in peak season.
