Curator’s statement
Québec City feels like a little piece of Europe in North America with its cobblestone streets, French charm, and history around every corner. I loved wandering the shops, trying new cafés, and taking in the gorgeous views of the streets and the St. Lawrence River. It’s such a special place because it has this perfect mix of beauty, culture, and memories I’ll never forget. Here's how to make the most of it during the summer.

Day 2: Old Québec (Wednesday)

Umbrella Alley
Walk a few minutes to Cafe La Maison Smith and enjoy some signature lattes and pastries. Stay along Rue Saint-Jean and enjoy the colorful storefronts, local treats, and gorgeous street views. Enjoy lunch at Les Trois Garçons, then head down to the Lower Town, either by stairs or riding the funicular for stunning city views. Visit Umbrella Alley for a splash of color and a perfect photo op. Enjoy a cozy dinner at Bistro 1640 for a French-style dinner, then head to Bar 1608 for creative cocktails and river views.
Day 3: Montmorency Falls & Île d’Orléans (Thursday)

Montmorency Falls and a beautiful rainbow
Start your morning with coffee and crêpes at Le Casse-Crêpe Breton, then make your way to the fountain to catch your bus tour at 10 am. You’ll kick off your five-hour day trip with a visit to Montmorency Falls, which towers higher than Niagara Falls and offers breathtaking views. This itinerary can be adjusted to include zip-lining over the falls or visiting the walkway at the top of the falls.
Next, cross over to Île d'Orléans, a charming island on the St. Lawrence River. Stop at the well-loved Chocolaterie around lunchtime for chocolate, ice cream, or a fresh sandwich. The last stop of your day trip will be visiting the Albert Gilles Copper Art & Museum to see how copper art is crafted. From there, enjoy a scenic ride to the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, where you’ll have 45 minutes to explore this beautiful Basilica at your own pace.
Wrap up the tour with ice cream at Sammy’s before heading back to the city. You’ll arrive back at the fountain around 4 pm and return to your hotel. After some time to relax, enjoy a casual dinner at St. Patrick’s Pub and either call it a night or linger for a few drinks to end the long day!
Day 4: Québec City (Friday)

Sunset over the St. Lawrence River
Start the day with a light breakfast at your hotel buffet, complete with complimentary coffee. Then stroll through the city’s shops. This is an ideal time to pick up souvenirs! Along Rue Saint-Anne, choose your favorite cuisine and enjoy a final lunch in the city. Visit the beautiful Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral. This breathtaking basilica is rich in history and is home to the only Holy Door in the Americas, making it a must-see cultural and spiritual landmark.
Québec City is famous for its festive Christmas spirit, so don’t forget to stop by La Boutique de Noël de Québec, a year-round holiday shop filled with ornaments and seasonal treasures. Head down to the river for a sightseeing cruise at sunset. End the evening with a late Italian dinner at Savini’s, complete with pasta, pizza, and wine.
Day 5: Depart Québec City (Saturday)

Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral
Stop at Cafe La Maison Smith for one last latte and pack up your things to check out of your hotel by 11 am. Fly home and start booking your next vacation!
Need to know
This itinerary is designed as a summer guide; Québec City is very different in the winter months and especially magical during the Christmas season. The city is famous for its holiday spirit, with festive lights, markets, and La Boutique de Noël adding to the charm. In summer, be ready for plenty of walking, hills, and cobblestone streets, so bring comfortable shoes. Most locals speak both French and English, and a few French phrases go a long way. The weather can change quickly, so pack layers and note that many shops and restaurants close earlier than in larger cities!
