Advisor - Palm Springs: Mid-Mod Magical Getaway
Curator’s statement

Palm Springs is more than just a city—it’s a time capsule of Mid-century modern design, where every home tells a story of timeless architecture and effortless elegance. Its hot desert climate makes it a popular winter getaway because of its year-round sunshine. Fun fact: PS boasts over 300 days of sunshine annually!

Things to do in Palm Springs

Moorten Botanical Garden 'Cactarium'

The Villagefest

The perfect start to kick off the weekend in Palm Springs. It's a weekly “artwalk” event held every Thursday evening in downtown, featuring local artists, street vendors, and food trucks.

Modernism Week

Held twice a year—in February and October-a celebration of modern design and architecture and iconic home tours. Our favorite tour was the walking tour of the impressive Twin Palms Estates, the very first midcentury neighborhood.

You also don’t want to miss the quintessential “House of Tomorrow”, aka Elvis Presley’s Honeymoon Hideaway.

Moorten Botanical Garden

Enjoy a little peace and serenity with a visit to the botanical garden. The garden is a privately-owned residential estate featuring desert trees, plants, and cacti from around the world.

After you’ve finished your self-guided tour, stop by the nursery to take a succulent home.

Golf

Palm Springs is one of the top golf destinations, featuring over 100 golf courses.

Peak season is November–April.

Shopping

  • Mojave Flea Trading Post: A unique vendor marketplace featuring vintage clothing, Palm Springs-style souvenirs, and handmade goods.

  • Peepa’s: In the heart of downtown, a quirky boutique for men and women’s apparel, vibrant art, and fun gifts.

Joshua Tree National Park

A short 45-minute drive from Palm Springs, explore unique desert landscapes and boulder formations. Hike numerous trails, from easy walks to more backcountry routes..

Places to eat & drink in Palm Springs

Counter Reformation

  • Birba: Dine al fresco with delicious wood-fired pizza and craft cocktails. Don’t skip the roasted cauliflower!

  • Tac/Quila: Modern Mexican cuisine in the heart of downtown. Try the margarita flight!

  • Counter Reformation: Speakeasy-style tapas hangout inside Parker Palm Springs hotel. First-come, first served—no reservations!

  • Bootlegger Tiki: Playful tiki bar serving kitschy craft cocktails..

  • Las Casuelas Terraza: Lively Mexican restaurant with a spacious outdoor patio and nightly live music—perfect for a festive evening out.

Need to know

  • Best time to go: Palm Springs is hot. October–April is most favorable for weather.

  • Transportation: Downtown is very walkable, but having a car is recommended to explore other parts of town.
