Curator’s statement

If you've been hearing great things about Big Sky - all the rumors are true. From wide open ski terrain with unbelievable views, to stargazing, wellness, and luxe accommodations, Big Sky delivers both adventure and calm in equal measure. If you’re planning a ski trip and want a place that feels both expansive and deeply restorative, this is my idea for the perfect way to spend four days in Montana.

Where to stay

Day 1: Arrival and reset

Big Sky is an unofficial Dark Sky Community

Arrive in the afternoon via private transfer from Bozeman airport. Check in to the Big Sky Suite at the brand new One&Only Moonlight Basin, the perfect outpost for ski-in/ski-out access and ultra-privacy.

Enjoy an arrival après with craft cocktails by the fire, then dine on locally-sourced mountain fare at The Landing.

Wind down after dinner and step outside for some light stargazing. Big Sky is an unofficial Dark Sky Community and the visibility at night is unreal.

Day 2: Ski Big Sky Resort

Can't beat a bluebird day on the slopes.

Fuel up at breakfast for a full day of skiing at Big Sky Resort. Enjoy the morning with a private guide before grabbing lunch mid-mountain at Everett’s 8800. Explore more terrain in the afternoon and hop on the Lone Peak tram to visit Kircliff, a new glass-enclosed viewing platform at the top of Lone Peak.

When you're ready for après, head to the base area and pull up a barstool with the locals at Scissorbills Saloon.

Later, catch One&Only’s dedicated, private gondola back to the property, then relax in the private soaking tub on the Big Sky Suite’s wrap-around terrace.

In the evening head into town for a cozy dinner at Olive B’s Big Sky Bistro, then a nightcap by the fire back at the hotel.

Day 3: Wellness & adventure

Enjoy breakfast, then head out for a unforgettable dog sledding adventure with Spirit of the North.

Break for a light lunch, followed by a wellness afternoon at the spa. First a recovery ritual treatment with massage, then some hydrotherapy and reading by the indoor/outdoor heated pool.

In the early evening, head out to Lone Mountain Ranch for a whiskey flight happy hour followed by dinner at Horn & Cantle.

Return to One&Only for a private stargazing session with telescopes and blankets. Then a nightcap by the outdoor fire pits at Dear Josephine.

Day 4: Slow morning & departure

Sleep in a bit, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, coffee by the fire, and a final soak in the spa’s outdoor vitality pools.

After a late check-out grab your private transfer back to the airport. Enjoy another coffee by the cozy fireplaces at the Bozeman airport.

Need to know

I recommend at least 3-4 days here, but you could easily extend to a week or more. Big Sky is great for couples and families alike.
