Curator’s statement
Duluth surprised me in the best way. It has all the beauty and laid-back feel of a lakeside vacation, with dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, charming small towns, and beaches that make you forget you’re in the Midwest. Driving the North Shore is one of my favorite road trips because every stop offers something unique, from Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse to hidden beaches and local restaurants. It’s the kind of destination that makes you slow down, explore, and appreciate the journey as much as the destination.
