Things to do in Nashville

Hop-on hop-off trolley tour

A great way to explore the city without overexerting little legs! The open-air trolley takes you past top landmarks like the Ryman Auditorium, Centennial Park, and Music Row. It’s stroller-friendly, and the guides (some better than others!) offer tons of fun facts and local history.

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery

Surprisingly toddler-friendly, this historic distillery offers engaging tours, excellent cocktails, and stroller access throughout. Our daughter even napped through the entire tour—win-win!

Assembly Food Hall

Perfect for groups and families, this spot has dozens of dining options under one roof and a casual atmosphere. There’s a breezeway that connects the two sides of the hall, so it’s easy to escape the crowds and still enjoy your meal.

The Country Music Hall of Fame

Even if you’re not a huge country fan, the exhibits are fascinating and engaging for older kids and adults alike. A manageable museum that offers a cultural break from the honky-tonk chaos.

Broadway (early in the day)

While Broadway gets rowdy in the evenings, it’s a fun place to explore in the morning when it’s quieter. Live music starts early, and several venues allow children until a certain hour (like Tootsies, Jason Aldean’s, and Rippie’s).

Centennial Park & The Parthenon

A full-scale replica of the Athenian Parthenon surrounded by green space—a great place for a stroller walk or kid-friendly picnic away from the downtown bustle.

The Gulch

Trendy and walkable, this neighborhood is filled with murals, shops, and coffee spots that are fun to explore between naps or snack breaks.

Riverfront Park

Located near the Four Seasons, this green space offers room to roam, some kid-friendly art installations, and views of the river and bridges.

Places to eat & drink in Nashville

Homemade pastries at Mimo

The Iberian Pig

A sophisticated Spanish restaurant just off the main Broadway chaos. Perfect for a date night or a quieter meal with grown-up vibes—highly recommended if you have someone to watch the kids.

Robert’s Western World

Home of the legendary fried bologna sandwich, great live music, and old-school Nashville charm. It’s a dive, but a must-do—you’ll leave full and smiling.

Assembly Food Hall

A crowd-pleaser with everything from burgers to tacos to sushi. Even picky kids (and tired parents) will find something here. It’s best on a quieter night—seating can be tricky during peak hours.

Tootsies Orchid Lounge

An iconic honky-tonk spot where live music blasts from every level. Children are allowed until 7 pm, so it’s doable for a quick, early evening visit.

Attaboy Nashville

For the grown-ups. A speakeasy-style cocktail experience with custom drinks based on your preferences. Worth reserving time for if you can sneak away for the evening.

Sixty Vines

Located in an outdoor mall area near Broadway, this wine-focused spot has a light and lively vibe. We didn’t get to eat there this time, but it’s a great alternative to noisy honky-tonks.

The Optimist

For a seafood-centric, upscale meal, head to The Optimist in Germantown—it’s a great escape from the Broadway buzz, with delicious food and a refined, inviting atmosphere.

Mimo (at Four Seasons)

Elegant yet comfortable, with exceptional breakfast and brunch options. Don’t miss the homemade pastries. Kids under 5 eat free.

Additional tips & advice for visiting Nashville with a toddler

  • Broadway isn’t for everyone: While it’s iconic, navigating Broadway with a stroller is rough. Crowded sidewalks, loud music, panhandlers, and security checks create sensory overload. Consider walking nearby streets instead and visiting Broadway early in the day.

  • Transport woes: Nashville has very limited car services that offer car seats. We typically travel without one, but this time we had to bring our own. If you’re traveling with a young child, plan ahead—especially for airport transfers.

  • Stroller access isn’t universal: Many downtown entrances, including the Four Seasons, have stairs instead of ramps. Be prepared to navigate around traffic or enter through alternate doors.

  • Stay cool: Nashville can get hot, and many indoor/outdoor spots lack sufficient AC. Bring fans, water bottles, and stroller covers to keep your little one comfortable.

  • Time your tours: The trolley tours are a great way to explore, but they’re not air-conditioned. Go earlier in the day to avoid peak heat, and bring snacks for your toddler.
