Advisor - Orlando Travel Guide 2025: Disney, Universal, Hotels, Things to Do & Where to Eat
Curator’s statement

Orlando is a place where family memories seem to write themselves. What I love most is how you can spend the morning immersed in the magic of Disney or Universal, then slow down in the evening with a relaxing dinner or poolside break. It’s not just about the theme parks—though those are unforgettable—but also about the variety of experiences tucked into every corner of the city. For families, couples, or even solo travelers, Orlando offers an energy that’s exciting yet surprisingly welcoming.

Things to do in Orlando

Walt Disney World

Disney World isn’t just one park—it’s four, each with its own personality. Magic Kingdom is where fairytales come alive, EPCOT mixes culture and futuristic fun, Hollywood Studios is great for Star Wars fans, and Animal Kingdom blends adventure with wildlife. I love that no matter your age, there’s something to spark wonder. Even just walking down Main Street USA with a churro in hand feels like stepping into a story.

Universal Orlando Resort

If you’re craving adrenaline, Universal is where you’ll find it. From the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to the thrills of Islands of Adventure, this park is all about immersion and excitement. My favorite part is grabbing a Butterbeer at Diagon Alley—it feels like you’ve walked straight into the movies. Universal also tends to appeal to older kids and teens, making it a perfect complement to Disney for families.

ICON Park

Away from the big parks, ICON Park offers a more relaxed but still entertaining day. The Wheel—an enormous observation wheel—gives incredible views of the Orlando skyline. We like coming here in the evening when the lights come on and the whole area buzzes with restaurants and music. It’s perfect if you want something fun without committing to a full theme park day.

Kennedy Space Center

Just a short drive from Orlando, the Kennedy Space Center is both inspiring and educational. Standing under a real Saturn V rocket or seeing the Space Shuttle Atlantis up close is awe-inspiring. Kids love the astronaut training simulators, and adults can’t help but feel moved by humanity’s journey into space. It’s a powerful reminder that Florida is more than theme parks—it’s also about big dreams.

Lake Eola Park (Downtown Orlando)

When you need a break from the excitement, Lake Eola is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. The swan boats are whimsical, and the walking path around the lake is just the right length for an easy stroll. I love grabbing a coffee nearby and watching the swans glide across the water. It feels like a pocket of calm in a city that’s otherwise buzzing with energy.

Places to eat & drink in Orlando

  • The Boathouse (Disney Springs): The Boathouse is one of my favorite spots in Disney Springs. Set right on the water, it combines upscale dining with a playful, family-friendly vibe. Fresh seafood is the star here—I still remember the lobster roll overflowing with tender meat. If you dine outside, you get gorgeous views of the lake and the Amphicars cruising by.

  • Voodoo Doughnut (Universal CityWalk): At Universal, Voodoo Doughnut is more than a snack stop—it’s an experience. The donuts are over-the-top, from giant maple bacon bars to cereal-covered creations. My kids loved picking out the wildest flavors, and it made for a fun treat after a day of roller coasters. It’s casual, quirky, and very Orlando.

  • Se7en Bites (Milk District): This local favorite is all about Southern comfort food with a twist. Think chicken pot-pie, biscuits, and ridiculously good desserts. I loved the laid-back atmosphere—it felt like a place where both locals and visitors came together. The line can be long, but it’s worth every minute.

  • Victoria & Albert’s (Grand Floridian Resort): For a special occasion, Victoria & Albert’s is the definition of fine dining. This AAA Five Diamond restaurant offers multi-course tasting menus that feel like art on a plate. While it’s not an everyday stop, it’s unforgettable for a couple’s night out. The attention to detail makes you feel like royalty.

  • East End Market: If you’re looking for something more low-key but just as memorable, East End Market is a great pick. It’s a neighborhood food hall featuring local vendors and artisans. I enjoyed wandering from stall to stall, sampling everything from handmade bread to craft coffee. It’s the kind of place that gives you a true taste of Orlando beyond the parks.
